Confession: My guilty pleasure is watching videos of Sovereign Citizens getting arrested, or making their bullshit arguments in court, and getting hit straight in the face (metaphorically) with the freight train of reality.
They're truly the legal equivalent to Flat Earthers. It's amazing, but also troubling.

I'm in a SovCit group on Facebook, but it's a group specifically to talk about the rising issue of the SovCit movement in Australia, and the challenges it poses to justice and law organisations—its clear from the group description that this is the groups aim. But also, SovCits aren't known for their rigorous research practices (ie: reading a group description).
Every now and then an actual SovCit will join and post. Like this morning, when someone asked if there was an official Sovereign Citizen logo, and then made individual comments tagging each person who laugh reacted and called them a pussy. Which, I guess, shows a level of commitment that should be admired?

The NZ Police manual has been updated. In future, officers who encounter sovereign citizens and learn they hold a firearms licence are to refer the individuals to the Firearms Safety Authority for review.

Glad this did not turn into a Waco situation. In fact, it doesn't look like it was even close to that. But Didulo is obviously completely off her rocker and knows how to manipulate people for money and influence in whatever scheme she dreams up.

‘Sovereign citizen’ gets surprising results in court
Photo by frank mckenna on UnsplashJohn Miller was sentenced at the Johnstown District Court Monday morning. When asked about his reaction to the sentence, Miller said, “I was definitely not expecting this. I’m considering all my options, including applying for citizenship.”
Miller’s troubles started when he was pulled over by Officer Lucy Hill for having driven through a stop sign. Brian Kemp, spokesperson for the Johnstown Police Department, explains, “Officer Hill was immediately clued to the strangeness of the situation by the fact that Miller’s truck had no license plate, and had huge truck nuts hanging from the back. She deduced from this that the truck was male.”
Kemp continues, “When she congratulated Miller on the truck nuts, and asked for his driver’s license, Miller declared that he did not have a license, because he is not a citizen of the United States.” Miller’s declaration was his own undoing.
The Honorable Judge Julie Moon asked Miller for his birth certificate or anything providing that he was a US citizen. Miller refused to provide the evidence, still claiming to be a “sovereign citizen,” not bound by US law. Consequently, Judge Moon found that Miller was a foreign national, illegally present in the United States, and ordered him deported to Mexico.
Authorities in Mexico are already planing to deport Miller to Brazil, since he is not a Mexican national either.

People complain about #SovereignCitizens, but you know what, they bother me a lot less than state level #secessionists. Sovereign citizens have issues with logistics and universalizability, but at the end of the day they just want to be left alone, and they're going it alone when they do that, so I can respect it.
People who talk about state level #secession are talking about dragging everyone else around them through the logistical nightmare, one which they fail to even seem to recognize, of decoupling from a massive country without devolving into a third world country, especially since a lot of these states are heavily reliant on the federal government.
That's even before the fact that the last time people got those states to secede they murdered a bunch of people, set up dictatorships, and started a crazy war.
At least a #SovereignCitizen's decisions don't reach far beyond themselves.
I think the reason I like watching SovCit videos is because it's the real-world analog version of watching a virus attack a computer system.
