A Surinamese spaceship destined for a new planet, a journey with glamour, comedy and music.
You find yourself on the spaceship heading to this almost utopic destination.
In the year 2099 the country of Suriname has taken over the world. (Kind of what the Spice girls did in 1996 but with even more political implications.)
The multi-billion dollar oil & gas investment in 2024 transformed the small former Dutch colony to the #1 economic superpower on the planet.
Beyond their Earthly success they’ve acquired a new planet and dubbed it: NEW New Nickerie. With a similar tropical climate, universal healthcare, 3-day work week, pension age of 32 and mansions for everyone.
Your charming host is also the pilot, co-pilot, cabin crew, on-flight musical entertainment and space marshall. When the ship accidentally ends up in a part of the galaxy hidden by the government an adventure starts where you slowly uncover an inconvenient truth about the Surinamese empire.
BIOGRAPHY
LASHAAAWN (They/Them She/Her) self proclaimed Amsterdam’s Sweetheart is a drag performance artist. A fantasy world builder who in her work critically and comedically reflects on themes such as queerness, colonialism and The Real Housewives of AtlantaTM
Acknowledged contributions by Black Queer Townhall Podcast by Bob The Drag Queen & Peppermint (2024), Dutch Design Week (2019 & 2024), De Bijlmerbundel (2025), Voetbalmeisjes (Zapp), Papadag(NPO3), the internationally acclaimed documentary Genderblend (2017) NPO/BNN/Videoland & the Gouden kalf filmfestival.

Dadaism was first described to me as different musicians, performers and poets all performing at the same time in the same room. War disillusionment was the premise, non logic was the conclusion.
A Dadaist Variety Show is a feeling directed and produced by Zena Wood, with original music composed by Wood and Waters. Paired together with bingo - the most illogical and logical bar pastime, you will witness on stage some of Amsterdam's resident comedians, magicians and musicians (say that three times fast). The main act will involve a washing machine and your bingo cards will be based on the variety acts. It's that simple. This is a show for groups of friends, solo theatergoers, and people tired of bureaucracy. So - everyone, really.

Throughout the year, but especially during the month of July, Plein Theater gives unfiltered visibility to film and emerging artists engaging with queer themes. This year in the spirit of the extraordinary WorldPride Amsterdam, which theme UNITY stands for solidarity, connection, and a shared struggle for equality.
An important part of the programme originates from an open call as part of our co-creation programme, where shared ownership and participation are key. Ten emerging and talented artists present work that engages with queer perspectives, identity, the body, freedom, and the many ways in which we can celebrate ourselves and each other.
We believe that a theater is not only a stage, but also a meeting center where artists, local residents, communities, and audiences collectively shape what is presented. Our co-creation programme can be recognised by the #GetInvolved label.
From 15th to 19th of July we screen ten queer films by the feminist film collective Cinemien! For decades, Cinemien has been a pioneer in showcasing powerful women’s stories, LGBTQIA+ perspectives, and groundbreaking documentaries.
We also Bring Drag Back to the Theatre with a special WorldPride edition featuring the irresistible drag queen Sederginne. And last but not least, together with queer.red and Lesbique, we explore the boundaries of queer erotique during Darkroom on Stage!

Will he escape the (well-manicured) claws of The Slutty Devil in time? Or will he be banished, just like the rest of you, in this dating hell forever?
Based on the eponymous concert by Daniel's Lore (Daniel Nguyen) and produced by Dummy Deer Productions, this brand new musical is a perfect blend of camp-comedy and tragedy about dating stories that you are guaranteed to have experienced yourself at some point. Because despite the ups and downs, at the end of the day, we're all just looking for connections!

Lesbique has become an institution in Amsterdam, carving out a queer and intersectional space in the heart of gay male centered pleasure at Club Church. For World Pride, Lesbique is at it again... Amplifying the work of queer porn makers, sex positive artists and voices from the full beautiful spectrum of the lgbtiq+ community. For this event, Lesbique presents in collaboration with queer.red performances and a film program curated by queer.red - Netherland’s Sex Worker Film & Art Festival.
Our voices, bodies and perspectives belong in the spotlight, not only during pride but also in the world and in general. Join us in celebrating queer joy through performances and sex worker-made films. Together we will dare to dream of our most pleasurable futures.

Harris Glenn Milstead, better known as Divine, was never meant to fit into society’s mold, and he never tried to. Born in 1945, Divine rose from a bullied Baltimore teenager to become one of the most influential performers in underground film history. His larger-than-life persona made him a cult icon, but those closest to him remembered a kind and hardworking man beneath the makeup.
