The reason I even publish DM link instead of my #MatrixSpace, though, is because YouTube has a meltdown from links containing a second # (number sign, replace @ with it to get into my space).
From technical POV, it's one correct #RegularExpression away for YouTube, as many modern social media and video platforms can handle it and do use normal #regex. But, on the other hand, #MatrixTo service just shouldn't be employing such flawed #URL pattern or provide an alternative one, even if #URI standard allows the former to exist.
So, yeah, there is that - it is hard to gather video viewers in such a place. It's a single thing that I miss from Discord invite links. Matrix ones don't need a vanity and it's sweet - one solution is put it through #URLShortner, but then the entire point is lost.

Regarding #matrix news. Anyone who thinks about contributing to a CLA (contributor license agreement) project under the GPL. Here is my checklist:
1. Is it multi-stakeholder (more than one group or people hold the copyright)
2. Is the CLA requester a Free Software non-profit?
3. Is this anything more than a drive by contribution?If it's a single stakeholder VC corporation and I'm planning on using this thing more than once. You can have my code contribution in exchange for money.

:matrix: So the dev teams of two major #Matrix homeservers, #Synapse and #Dendrite, have announced that they will fork their work to change from the non-reciprocal #Apache license to the reciprocal #AGPLv3. That is a good step in the right direction. #Copyleft is the only effective way to ensure software public goods remain open.
However the effect is not much change yet, because they will require a #CLA for contributions to be merged. Revert to a #DCO would ensure future protection.

The #Matrix project is re-licensing its servers (synapse, dendrite, ..) from #Apache to #AGPL, following the spate of similar measures by many other projects. Good that they didn't choose a non-FOSS license.
But they're also changing the sign-off from #DCO to #CLA. That is very disappointing.
PS: If you are starting a FOSS project, consider adopting a #copyleft license. It should be abundantly clear by now that the push for permissive licenses is an attempt to extract free labour.

Hhmm - da habe ich mich wohl verschätzt.
Ich glaube, jetzt für #MatrixRTC alles vollständig konfiguriert zu haben und stelle fest, dass jetzt scheinbar noch die Installation eines 'Matrix Authentification Services (MAS)' fehlt. Mein Homeserver ist aus 2018, da gab es sowas wohl noch nicht. Das scheint mir ein vollständiger #OIDC Server zu sein, vermutlich alles andere als trivial.
Den Softwarestack aktualisiere ich ja regelmäßig, aber bei der Config habe ich nur das Notwendigste getan. Das scheint sich jetzt zu rächen.

@rriemann @sunweaver @evawolfangel We will investigate that direction as well, cannot say anything about tha feasibility of #MatrixRTC for now though, as we didn't dig deep enough into it yet, and currently use Janus Media Gateway which differs from LiveKit in many aspects. E2EE is one of the next big topics on the roadmap to be implemented, we will do the detailed research rather soon.

is there a #conduwuit alternative that isn't uncomfortably sexualised and in-your-face about everything?
i guess i could use regular #conduit, but the docs warn about it being somewhat unstable compared to the former. #synapse seems to be insanely difficult to set up, and #dendrite looks like it has none of the strengths of the two others
i'd just use "conduwuit" but as a trans person it's making me genuinely super uncomfortable to see that kind of hypersexual fetishy trans 'representation' that they're going for. i just want a normal software project

Heute mal Synapse installiert. Da Dendrite ja mehr oder weniger fallen gelassen wurde, war dies überfällig. Leider hab ich keine Möglichkeit gefunden von Dendrite zurück zu Synapse zu wechseln.
Werd mal ein paar Tage beides parallel laufen lassen und dann Dendrite killen...
Dass Synapse mehr Resourcen braucht, kann ich garnicht beurteilen. Da hab ich einfach zu wenige User drauf...
Bis jetzt läuft alles sehr unaufällig...
