It’s interesting - I’ve hit backlash for self publishing so much (which was inspired by Rupi Kaur) but seemed to dodge that bullet when I self published the memoir Son of Greg Girard and launched at Massy Books back in 2024, and received acclaim. There is a screen shot of a Google Knowledge Panel that propagated specifically for the memoir. A lot of my identity when shrunk gets reduced to scholar and author - usually that means author of the memoir. #DesignWriting #Memoir #CanadianAuthors #BookLaunch @vancouverwritersfestival

Back in the library nook this afternoon, a tech free space to brainstorm and mind map ideas. I’ve created a system, a pencil and paper system, to build some structure into my creativity. 3 columns - thoughts, to-do, and collabs. It’s working okay. The thoughts gets most of the attention which probably means I’m light on execution, but the great thing about pencil and paper is you can quite easily go back and see what your ideas were, a literal paper trail but instead of formal evidence, it’s a mass of creative. #DesignWriting #Memoir #CanadianAuthors #BookLaunch @ingramspark
