  1. Today, I started the process of introducing #Proton in my life. Perhaps this for the best as I moved my email and calendar over there already. If I could convince my family to use it too then wouldn't have to do a hybrid approach with my calendars.

Then, I changed my email address to the Proton one in my Wealthsimple account. This will be a marathon, not a sprint. I will have to certainly make new accounts for ProWritingAid and Calm

Now I won't lie but I think the only Big Tech company I won't ditch completely is #Microsoft especially since having one is the only way I can play one of my favorite game series: #Halo as I used to be an Xbox gamer before I turned to PC and Halo is on PC now but still. Plus I have a license to write on #Scrivener that I don't want to lose either. There's other reasons too but I'm not going to list them all.

I like Proton so far. Sure Google is convenient but if governments keep pushing for our data and Google doesn't stand up to them, it won't be safe to use.

    >> Multiculti married names send me, in a good way.

#Scrivener has a neat name generator. Great for generating fake names for influencing or otherwise 😀

  13. There are various types of writing sessions.
    Sometimes you write the words.
Sometimes you stare at the wall.
Sometimes you spend 1,5h hours shuffling virtual cards on the Scrivener's cork board.

  28. @ianRobinson It is too bad that L&L has decided not to actively suppurt but you can install it on linux too. Since the files travel pretty seamlessly among MacOS, iPasOS, windoze, and linux I find it easier to write with whenever the muse or an idea hits. My biggest gripe now (which isn’t much of a gripe) is the lack of definitive file level version control.

  33. @lazysupper I am using fairly reliably among my iPad version, a win10 version, and . There are a few annoying things like the iPabd version wanting to default to all text being bold italic but that isn’t bad.

  43. #worldbuilding tip: Build and internal Wiki.
In my #scrivener project, I have a Wiki folder where I list out all the pertinent articles to my story complete with links. This helps to organize my sprawling #fantasy novel

  44. While I don't use in anymore (in favor of #Scrivener), for people looking for a simple free and lightweight writing tool, I recommend checking FocusWriter out.

It has just enough customization to bring joy, but not overwhelm.
It helps you count words and meet your writing goals.
And if you like that, it can make tiny typewriter sounds at each keystroke.

  47. Finally installed Scrivener on my Linux drive as i can't be bothered to reboot into Windows every time I use it. Some more annoying configurations still to be done but it works.

I also just realized that if I avoid the compiler, Scrivener is not pure evil.

  52. Setting up a new Mac, the former MacBook I was defrauded into buying having finally definitively crashed after years of giving trouble. To my dismay, my favourite and most-used apps don’t work on it because it doesn’t use an Intel chip - Brave, VLC… I haven’t dared to open Scrivener yet - if that doesn’t work I’m fucked; everything I’m writing & all my research is on Scrivener projects
