I've said it before and I'll say it again. I LOVE #Scrivener and fuck MS Word very much. In an era where Microsoft will hold your documents hostage to blackmail you into extending your cloud storage subscription, buy Scrivener once and own it forever. You know, like the good old days.
Great program too, much more useful for a long-form writer especially than Word.

#scrivener users: Has anyone revisited a project and found that random updated files are empty?
I've discovered I have three such files in that state in one project synced between Mac, iPad, and iPhone—but I have auto backups and mobile syncs, so content is recoverable, though maybe not the last edit.
In my case, each empty file has a last mobile sync of Aug 22, 2026 at 12:40 PM. That they all have the same snapshot time is significant, not the specific timestamp.
The first file I found empty, after the initial panic because these are chapters in a novel, I thought maybe I accidentally did a select all backspace. It could happen. I searched the backups, but could find nothing after the date stated above, so did a rollback to the mobile sync snapshot.
Last night around midnight, I found a second file. Today, suspicious, I checked every single file in the project, and found a third empty file.
Wondering if this ever happened to other writers. No doubt Scrivener devs at support will blame Dropbox. I am asking for feedback to find out if it happened to anybody else before I report it.

Windows-Software mit CrossOver unter Linux installieren
Meine Hoffnungen waren groß, aber längst nicht alles, das ich getestet habe lief: #CrossoverLinux bringt Windows-Software unter #Linux zum Laufen. Und die Bedienung ist ziemlich einfach. Adobe Reader, Scrivener, Papyrus und GOG Galaxy beispielsweise laufen prima, bei anderen gibt es Fallstricke.

I'm listening to #Scrivener read my latest draft of The Duchess. It's actually even better being read aloud than just reading it. Even though Scrivener doesn't pronounce all words correctly (how hard is 'as' to pronounce?) and the voice is mechanical without the expression a human reader would give it.
Wish I could afford to do an #Audiobook as I think the duology of #TheButler and #TheDuchess would do really well in that market. But sadly, Social Security doesn't cover such things.
