During the holiday break I devoured the Speaker for the dead #audiobook. This #book is one of the "Sequels" in the #EndersGame book series.
It is not a fast-paced action packed book like it's predecessor. but rather a #enderverse themed story exploring the Speaker role of Ender Wiggins.
Multiple threads are fully explored in this book, but I primairly loved the storyline around of actually getting to know someone, their flaws, strengths, history and using empathy to know the whole truth.

A few months ago a friend of mine encouraged me to try an #audiobook ... #ReadyPlayerOne , and since then I've been hooked.
I am not a book reader, as I find the practice uncomfortable and am unable to maintain concentratation. With the audio format, I've devoured several books and have especially enjoyed ones with a #distopian or a #scifi twist.
Said friend also has a great taste and feeds me awesome recommendations!

Newest piece of gear: A 1960's East German #refractometer. The wrench for the calibration screw is missing (1.3 mm square key) and the union nut for the thermometer is a bit loose (M16 x 0.75 ?).
Unfortunately Google turns up nothing in regards to spare parts, or even parts that could be simply converted without special tools I don't have.
Using a pair of tweezers for calibration and lots of teflon tape on the thread works, though :)

Geeeez... So I obsessed for the past couple of days, romanticizing the idea of testing #OpenSUSE as my main operating system on my SER6 PRO desktop... I did 17(!!!) attempts... I swear I never even ran into as many problems when I ran OpenBSD on my PC some 6 years ago.
And yeah I come from having installed pre-Systemd Arch and even more niche stuff in my teens... so this came as a shock.
Guess I'm sticking with Fedora Workstation a little longer. -
Butterfried Gnocchi "all'amatriciana". That was the dinner I made for me and my better half this evening.
Had two interviews today, one to help Kill Parkinsson, which is a charity and the other one is a potential new employment that sounds quite exciting.... we'll see!
Other than that I'm researching and preparing to move my main computer over to #OpenSUSE if possible. -

So... I ended up spending the hours around midnight all the way until 09:00 in the ER for my allergy.
I got #antihistamines IV which... is a first.
It sucked, but the people in the hospital were nice and now I feel very good and my symptoms aren't even 20% of what I experienced the day before. Got a five day prescription to run through here in the next coming days... What an adventure. Glad it's over
