Rita the Rock Planter
Created by renowned Danish recycle artist Thomas Dambo in August 2023. It is his second giant troll installation in Colorado (following Isak Heartstone in Breckenridge).
Rita is a benevolent troll depicted on her hands and knees "patching up" holes in the mountainside left behind by 19th-century gold miners so that humans and wildlife won't fall in. It serves as a playful symbol of environmental care and reclamation.

Thomas Dambo’s Trolls are in town! The “TROLLS: Save the Humans” exhibition at the Memphis Botanic Gardens features six of these larger-than-life sculptures displayed throughout the grounds. They are made entirely of recycled materials.
The trolls “made a pact to band together and help save the humans by rediscovering nature and teaching us how to live in harmony with the earth.”

In #Kopenhagen und Umgebung gibt es einige #Trolle von dem Künstler #ThomasDambo zu entdecken. Heute fuhren wir mit dem Rad extra nach #Nordhaven, wo wir Kaptajn Nalle begrüßen konnten.

#Urlaub Tag 12:
Sehr früh aufgestanden, vor 5:00, da wir mit der WoMo Nase nach Osten direkt am Meer standen. Ein paar Fotos vom Sonnenaufgang gab es, dann hat es arg zu regnen angefangen. Wir haben den weiteren Sonnenaufgang aus dem WoMo beobachtet, Kaffee gekocht und es uns gut gehen lassen.
Nach dem Frühstück sind wir ein paar Kilometer weiter nach #TreldeNæs gefahren und haben dort eine schöne Hunderunde gedreht.
Danach ging es weiter #Børkop, einen weiteren #Troll #EneØjesten von #ThomasDambo besuchen.
Die Trolldame sitzt auf dem Gelände bei einer alten #Wassermühle, welche aber samt zugehörigem Cafe leider geschlossen hatte. Den #Geocache beim Troll konnten wir schnell finden. Beim Parkplatz waren Tische und Bänke und so gab es ein zweites Frühstück und danach fuhren wir weiter zu einem #gårdbutik um ein bisschen einzukaufen. Einen #Pintrip Platz haben die auch aber direkt an der Straße auf dem geschotterten Parkplatz, nicht sehr schön.
Also weiter und jetzt stehen wir beim #DanskMotorOgMaskinsamling, einem Museum für alle möglichen alten Maschinen, die ältesten von 1868. Das Museum hatte bei Ankunft schon geschlossen aber stehen dürfen wir hier und wenn wir morgen mal etwas länger schlafen, schauen wir uns das auch noch an. Nach einem kleinen Spaziergang mit den Jungs wird jetzt noch ein bisschen beim WoMo rumgegammelt.#hlunke_socke_on_tour #Danmark

Yesterday was a holiday here in Denmark, so my son and I went all the way to the opposite end of Copenhagen in our cargo bike. My son wanted to check out a troll which is hauling a boat to sea!
The troll is located in the no man's land between the industrial/shipping port of Copenhagen and the new residential area of Nordhavn. Basically, it's a really cool area to explore with or without a 3-year-old👌

During the Easter holidays, my son and I went on a cargo bike adventure to see a faraway troll based on a Norwegian fairy tale that is also well-known in Denmark ("De tre Bukke Bruse").
The troll lives under a bridge in Ishøj close to the Arken museum of modern art. As you cross the bridge you only notice the hand grabbing the side of the bridge. Unless you're curious what it is, you likely won't notice the giant troll located underneath.
