I gotta say thank you and also admit that I’m embarrassed ss a result of spreading that falsehood for prolly two decades. It was based on my direct recollection that our minds shape within us as we add and recall various experiences in life.
Let me take this opportunity to say, “Fuck your therapist” too, for had you cited, S1:E18 TNG I would have been awkwardly embarrassed, outraged at myself, and thought you a dikhed for thrashing me publicly. You are too kind, and a statesman in trekkering (if that’s even a freaking word, lolz).
Because of your subtle pointer, not pointing to the episode itself butt to the provenance of the saga’s chronology, I took your queue and went to the sources at StarTrek .com, Etc., and did my due diligence.
“Home Soil” was in fact the episode with Captain Picard and crew, and Ugly… Ugly giant bags of mostly water was the actual line converted over communication links off the Enterprise obo the:
- Crystal life form (wikis)
- Microbrains (IMDb, but I think this is wrong)
- Crystalline Entity (something from my own recollections, but I think I may be conflating with another episode again)
In the second utterance, where the quote comes from, it’s:
“Ugly bags of mostly water” which is kinda fucked up if you’re the ugly bag and you think you’re the bees knees of the universe, lolz.
Anyway, I need to go back and watch the episode again and regain my clarity.
From one Trekkie to another, thanks for the nudge in the right direction, fuck your therapist (again, cuz your instincts were better than his/hers), and here’s some personal questions, stuffs, I have for you…
My all time fav episodes:
- The Balance of Terror (S1:E14 TOS - 1966) - Romulan Captain played by the same actor (Mark Lenard) as Sarek in later episodes, series (like TNG), and movies, through s few franchises.
- The Inner Light - after either ten minutes or a whole lifetime, Picard returns to his cabin to play a flute bestowed upon him by a strange probe of remembrance of a people past, and sadly, extinct - he carries with him their hopes, loves, and dreams, the rest of his natural days, as a complete life experience.
- Don’t fuck this up coz I’ll gig your ass, lolz - What we’re Captain Kirk’s last words?
- Another major fav of mine is TNG’s, “Yesterday’s Enterprise” who’s Captain had even more balls than Captain Janeway, who in turn, had more balls than Captain Kirk, lolz.
As my profile and contact info clearly states, I’m a FOSS and Privacy Advocate, shoulder that mantle quite seriously, and even though I thought him initially to be a dweeb write in, came to appreciate Will Wheaton as Wesley Crusher and note that it was not one of our finest hours when we let the destructive child snimals out of their respective cages to drive him from the Fediverse - yeah, I was there when those teenage pieces of shit did that to him - even @Gargron , who held great sway back then, couldn’t contain or filter those 💩’s.

"'There's a large percentage of them that are not commercial aircraft, like these stationary objects in the sky that are the size of an SUV that are just hanging out there for five or six hours, or seven hours,' Sprieser told DailyMail.com.
"It is possible that the drones could be the result of a 2018 defense contract to develop and test '#counterterrorism' drones.
"The Department of Defense is allowed to deny claims of third-party technologies if the drones were placed on a secure tech list for contract disclosures, which means the government is applying special restrictions to the information.
"The restrictions are added when technologies protect national security or to keep advanced systems hidden from hostile nations, and the developer holds primary liability if the government is not operating the drones, Retired CIA Intelligence Officer Rudy Ridolfi explained to DailyMail.com.
"He noted that the Federal Aviation Administration issued an air restriction alert on November 21 prohibiting flights over the Picatinny base for 'special security reasons' through December 26.
"'This FAA notice shows US drone testing is happening in the area. It's a warning for others to stay out of the area during those dates,' Ridolfi said.
"'While the nature of the testing isn't specified, it's most likely the testing of payloads related to reconnaissance.'

When the fateful day arrived, Emily and I stayed glued to the observation posts. Passengers came to admire the New Jersey countryside below, and then left to pack.
Miss Pang took a seat in the lounge near us and ordered a Champagne cocktail. She glanced my way but no more.
Next to me, Emily said, “I’m watching you. If we don’t crash, I want to catch you before you slip away.”
Her use of "I" confused me, but I followed her gaze to Miss Pang. I nodded. “I wouldn’t expect less of you. If we don’t crash, I’ll be happy to hand her the film and apologize.”
The landing mast came into view, a tall, spindly structure. Below was a mixture of pine forests and sandy fields. The aerodrome building loomed large, and I could see the people clearly. “Which one will I be giving the film to?” I asked.
“He’s next to the terminal. I’ll lead you to him.”
“There’s a crowd down there. Are they all needed to land this thing?” I asked, looking at the lines of men in uniforms. What I mainly noticed a field of bobbing white hats.
“First time, bud,” the man next to me said. “Don’t worry. They’ve got it down to a science. We’ll be on the ground in a jiffy.”
I nodded thanks, wondering if he would remember those words later.
The tableware in the room rattled, and the ship groaned.
I felt sick to my stomach. Things were going to get very bad soon. Some people around me might die. I hoped the steward survived. He’d treated me well. It #frustrated me that there was nothing I could do to help these people.
A stray thought popped into my head: “What will they think when they can’t find my body? Mlle Bijou was on the #manifest, or will my name disappear?”
I glanced at where Miss Pang had been sitting, but she’d disappeared. The cocktail was untouched—a mocking symbol of an unfinished life.
I wondered about her absence, but there wasn’t time to think about it.
“Passengers, please prepare for landing,” the captain announced over the intercom, repeating the message in German.
I took Emily’s hand. “Ready.” My voice sounded unsteady. She nodded, and I focused on dematerializing. A process that always seemed to take forever, though in truth it was only thirty seconds. The man next to us gaped as he stared at me. The next few minutes would scar him for life. My disappearing act was only the beginning.
I tugged on Emily’s hand and stepped through the wall. It was like walking into a gale. The wall was thin, and I was outside the ship in an instant. The ground looked very far away.
My head spun, and my stomach lurched. What if I fell? I had no idea what would happen if I ran out of energy and materialized again. Emily had carefully pointed out that I only thought I couldn’t die. Even if I were right, I suspected a fall from this height would hurt.
“My God, I’m going to fall!”
