Pixar a dévoilé les premières images de Toy Story 5, confirmant une sortie mondiale en salles le 19 juin 2026. Ce teaser de 50 secondes replonge immédiatement les spectateurs dans l’univers coloré et émouvant des jouets animés. On y découvre Bonnie, désormais âgée de huit ans, recevant un mystérieux colis. Recensione “Here” (2024)

Hic et nunc, qui e ora, dicevano i latini. Qui e in ogni momento, risponde invece Robert Zemeckis, riarrangiando per il grande schermo la graphic novel omonima di Richard Maguire, dove osserviamo la storia di un pezzo di terreno, un lotto, una casa, un soggiorno, dagli albori della storia fino ai giorni nostri. Nel nuovo lavoro del regista di Forrest Gump, che vede la reunion cinematografica di Tom Hanks e Robin Wright, il tempo infatti scorre, così come le vite, con piccoli e grandi momenti di esistenze tutto sommato comuni, in un puzzle di gioie e dolori da comporre in un unico angolo del pianeta, attraverso i secoli, i decenni, gli anni.

Grazie a un massiccio utilizzo della computer grafica, che abbiamo già visto in altri film (come ad esempio The Irishman di Martin Scorsese), i volti di Hanks e Wright tornano quelli della loro adolescenza, poi della loro età adulta grazie a un de-aging in fin dei conti credibile, se non fosse che sembra di trovarsi in un videogame iper-realistico, una sorta di versione cinematografica di The Sims o qualcosa del genere (ed è abbastanza inquietante pensare che in The Congress di Ari Folman, la stessa Robin Wright interpretava la parte di un’attrice che cedeva i diritti digitali del suo volto per poter essere replicata all’infinito in qualunque film). Al di là dei discorsi tecnici, la sfida di Zemeckis di costruire 100 minuti di film in uno spazio circoscritto è decisamente vinta, in una serie di continui rimandi ad epoche passate (o future), utilizzando non dissolvenze o netti stacchi di montaggio, ma inserendo nelle immagini piccoli riquadri che apriranno la finestra sulla scena (ed epoca) successiva, mantenendo puro lo spirito della graphic novel, dove Maguire inseriva in ogni tavola diversi riquadri per mostrare cosa accadeva in quell’angolo del soggiorno in un tempo differente rispetto a quello del racconto: credetemi, è più facile vederlo che raccontarlo. Quell’unico frame, con i suoi giochi di sovrapposizione e comunicazione tra epoche differenti, ha certamente il suo fascino, quantomeno a livello visivo, poiché a livello narrativo funziona a intermittenza: sì, è bellissimo seguire l’evoluzione di questa famiglia, è divertente anche osservare i soldati della guerra d’indipendenza festeggiare la resa degli inglesi, ma alla fine cosa resta? Qualche ricordo, un po’ di tenerezza e forse la scarsa indulgenza nei confronti dei personaggi, visto che ciò che emerge maggiormente sono le amarezze della vita, le malattie, le disillusioni, il modo in cui i sogni e le aspirazioni di gioventù marciscano sotto strati di polvere e frustrazione (“Sarò un artista”, dice il giovane Tom Hanks a suo padre Paul Bettany, che gli risponde ironicamente: “il mondo ne ha proprio bisogno!”).

Non si può certamente dire che Here non sia un’opera originale e, per certi versi, interessante: è solo il ciclo della vita che si svolge in quella casa che, probabilmente, non lo è davvero abbastanza.

Volunteers (1985)

Most will see Volunteers as a dumb American comedy, which it certainly is and there are plenty of better ones. However, I always favour the underdog and prefer the pointlessness of this film over Hanks’ bigger hits like Big and Splash.
