  1. **Update: Recent findings indicate this issue appears to have been resolved.**
Attention all #RemoteIncidentManager users, particularly those on #XFinity or #Comcast internet plans:
We have been made aware of, and been able to reproduce, an issue impacting downloads of the RIM installer when on XFinity networks.
It has come to our attention that XFinity's XFi Advanced Security has falsely-flagged the url for our RIM download endpoints as unsafe. This has resulted in failed attempts to download the RIM installer. Even in cases where the initial installer itself successfully downloads, the installer fails to fetch the data, thus resulting in a silent termination.
We are in communications with XFinity's escalations team and are doing our level best to ensure this issue's resolution as quickly as possible. Meanwhile, here are some immediate take-aways:
    1. We wish to assure each and every one of you that Remote Incident manager is certifiably secure, with a security-by-default, privacy-first design from the outset. We as a company actively hold a SOC 2 Type II certification, which requires strict compliance with rigorous security standards. If you are a user who currently has a copy of RIM installed, rest assured that the program remains safe to use. What's more, existing installations are not impacted, and as such remain fully operational. This appears to only impact new installs, particularly under Comcast/XFinity service.
    2. If you are in immediate need of a RIM installer and are impacted by this issue, we have found non-XFinity cellular hotspots or any other form of secondary network outside of XFinity to be an effective workaround. Download and run the installer while off of your main network. Once RIM has been installed, you can re-enable your main internet and continue to use RIM normally.
    3. We encourage any impacted XFinity customers to submit unblock requests via their provided contact form. In order to do this:
    A. Visit:
    spa.xfinity.com/check_url_stat
    B. Enter the following URL:
    rim.pneumacdn.net
    C. Solve the Google re-captcha (no QR code required for this one), then click the "Submit" button. you will unfortunately not receive a confirmation of submission, so wait about ten seconds.
    D. Navigate to and activate the line that says "clickable a request for re-assessment . ".
    E. Fill out the resulting form that appears. the URL field should pre-populate. If not, enter:
    rim.pneumacdn.net
    before submission.
We apologize for the inconvenience and are again doing our best to ensure a quick resolution.

  6. @wyatt Bringing your own modem is indeed good advice for subscribers to a cable Internet provider that lets them do so. I had my own Arris SurfBoard during the last couple years that I was with Xfinity.

  7. The MS Clippy paint scheme on this #Nascar #Xfinity car makes me laugh. I like the part "would you like to pass?" and the only options are NO.

    Great job on that one

  8. Hardware I returned to Xfinity this afternoon. The Arris telephony modem was about 20 years old. The cable box / DVT was not much younger.

We dropped cable TV, VOIP, and stopped renting modems (bought my own Arris S33v3) very recently, saving hundreds of dollars per month on the bill.

  13. My son hooked up a ten-year-old laptop to our Wi-Fi. So *of course* Xfinity notified me that it's connected.

Used to be they would try to hide the fact that they were monitoring everything we do. Now they seem to be PROUD of it.

  14. Wouldn't have if I had literally any other option 🫠

  15. I've had this goofy problem with my #unifi kit (original #UDM/white cylinder) where my speed drops from ~900MB to ~80MB while connected to it. I thought it was an #xfinity issue, but if I connect directly to their modem, I see the speeds I'm expecting. Sometimes rebooting the router will clear it up for a little while. Currently connecting via wifi, but I'd previously seen the same behavior on wired connections, too.

I've done some searching, but have yet to figure out the cause or a fix. Throwing this out to the nerdosphere to see if anyone has any ideas (i.e. boosts are appreciated!).

  16. Dear huge companies that do everything except show you a toll-free customer service number that connects me to a human being: I will cancel your service! (see #XFinity fiasco w/my Father-in-Law for an example)

#TMobile Home #Internet got me as a replacement. James answered on the first ring - without a huge menu trying to force me to TEXT THEM for help!

  17. Comcast doesn't understand that when you abuse users with data caps and high prices for decades, the minute an alternative comes along (say, for instance #TMobile 5G home internet), we switch!

For instance, my husband went home today to CA to his father's house. On Friday a T-Mobile internet Gateway will arrive with a $35/mo price at 400mbps and he's replacing dad's Xfinity 400mbps at $85/mo! We asked for $ reduction. They refused!

    Bye Bye #Xfinity / #Comcast!

  18. How interesting that iceout.tech is blocked by #Xfinity Advanced Security on my home wifi. I'm sure that's a "bug".

  19. Aaaaand...our internet crashed again about half an hour ago. So we pulled out the Netgear modem and router, and replaced them with the Xfinity combo gateway. Didn't take too long to set up.

I just ran a speed test on Ookla. 538mbps download; that's about 400mbps SLOWER than before. But it's 295mbps up, which is over 250mbps faster than we've ever seen. So...I'll have to get in touch with them, I guess.
