@wyatt Bringing your own modem is indeed good advice for subscribers to a cable Internet provider that lets them do so. I had my own Arris SurfBoard during the last couple years that I was with Xfinity.

DOCSIS 3.1 signal drowns in noise 300 000 non-correctables in a minute.
The modem switches modulation like a windmill in a storm and occasionally drops 3.1. The end result being that the modem cable connection heats up to 47 °C which probably isn't helping at all.

Hardware I returned to Xfinity this afternoon. The Arris telephony modem was about 20 years old. The cable box / DVT was not much younger.
We dropped cable TV, VOIP, and stopped renting modems (bought my own Arris S33v3) very recently, saving hundreds of dollars per month on the bill.

It took a SINGLE copper wire surrounded by dielectric and a wire mesh which was originally designed to carry analog audio signals. Now with #DOCSIS4 we can get 10GBps of degrees and ~7GBps ingress. That same Layer 1 single wire can now care thousands of audio streams, video, data, etc

Hatte lange Probleme mit #Vodafone #CableMax 1000. Techniker hat alles getauscht, inkl. 2x die #Fritzbox 6690 – ohne Erfolg. Millionen Fehler in kürzester Zeit. Downgrade auf die 6670 gemacht, und plötzlich waren die Kabel-Werte perfekt: keine Fehler mehr, stabile Verbindung. Hätte nie gedacht, dass "weniger" manchmal mehr ist. #AVM #Internet #DOCSIS

Mal eine Frage an #Cabel / #DOCSIS Experten. In einer Wohnung (Essen) ist Kabelanschluss (Vodafone) Daten liegen an. TV ist IMHO dazugebucht.
Ein sehr alter #Grundig (2014) mit Cabeltuner bekommt keinen Sender.
Hat jemand eine Idee? Ich habe es mit allen möglichen Suchläufen versucht. Nichts zu machen.

Upgraded my #Comcast / #Xfinity connection to a #DOCSIS 3.1 modem. 10x faster upload speed! But an immensely frustrating process - I had to reboot the modem after Xf thought everything was done and even though I could reach their gateway. Grr. And then the higher speed didn't kick in for another 1/2 hour. Grrrr.

My weekend project - labeling and upgrading all the #RG59 cables and wall plates in our 65 year old house. Ran a brand new, shorter, and more direct cable to our #CableModem and the signal is vastly improved as you can see in the second picture. 有提到後來同軸電纜就慢慢退出區域網路接取標準
但是在廣域網路( #WAN ) 接取標準卻不是如此在前幾篇就已經有象友提到，一些國家過去曾使用有線電視電纜進行網路接取。
確實，如：美國、中國，這樣地域廣大的國家，在過去因為有線電視作為基礎建設，有大量鋪設到許多人口非密集區；然而，這些地方如果要重新鋪設纜線作為網際網路傳輸，可能不敷成本。#DOCSIS 就這樣出現了，嘗試透過已經存在的有線電視纜線 ( #Cable ) 來進行網際網路的傳送，應用在許多無法重新鋪設光纖線路的地區，而負責制定 DOCSIS 的組織 #CableLabs 也不斷的對 DOCSIS 進行提速，以目前最新的 4.0 版本也已經可以達到下載 10G 上傳 6G 的速度，與光纖常用的 #GPON 、 #EPON 相比也絲毫不遜色。
臺灣的有線電視業者也用 DOCSIS 提供有線網路接取服務，而目前政府的政策下逐步在更換為光纖，改為所有訊號都改為光纖傳送。

Problem 2 haben wir in der Vergangenheit irrtümlich als #Telekomproblem bezeichnet, weil es uns vor allem von #Telekom-Kund·innen gemeldet wurde. Wir bitten dafür um Verzeihung, liebe #DTAG! Auch Nutzende von (bestimmten?) #Glasfaser-Anschlüssen waren betroffen. Und wohl auch ein paar andere.
Wer einen der betroffenen Internet-Anschlüsse hat, bekam Downloads (z.B. Bilder) von https://digitalcourage.social 50 bis 100 mal langsamer geliefert.
Nachdem wir im Fediverse nach Netzwerkexpert·innen gesucht hatten, wurden wir über mehrere Ecken an @tfiebig vermittelt, der uns extrem geduldig bei der langwierigen Fehlersuche half und schließlich eine provisorische Lösung vorschlug. 1000 Dank, Tobias!
Wer's ganz genau wissen will: Weil diese virtuelle Maschine aus unklaren Gründen ein Problem mit Path MTU discovery hat, mussten wir die #MTU auf den Wert 1320 festnageln (#clamping, #DOCSIS).
Die Diagnose des Problems ist noch nicht ganz abgeschlossen, aber jetzt haben alle wieder die volle Download-Geschwindigkeit. \o/ 3/↓
