You’ve really warmed my heart! It took me right back to the 1970s, when I used 300-#baud #modems and #Usenet. A few days ago, I wrote a post on the subject.
I tried your #server, but I only got error messages (perhaps I need to register?). You can see them in the #screenshots I’ve attached.
I use #Firefox and #Thunderbird (for Linux😀)

Hardware I returned to Xfinity this afternoon. The Arris telephony modem was about 20 years old. The cable box / DVT was not much younger.
We dropped cable TV, VOIP, and stopped renting modems (bought my own Arris S33v3) very recently, saving hundreds of dollars per month on the bill.

25 years separate these two modem cards, the bigger one able to spit out 300 baud while its younger relative roared at 57,600 (sometimes). Both screamed while doing their thing and both are united in obsolescence.
The age of the modem on home computers was glorious if frustrating at times. I miss it, the Internet got worse fast even as speed increased.

This is part of the #BBS scene that I missed, I must say. By 1990 I was still BBSing full tilt, but had moved off of Atari.
