In essence, if any of histories great enlightenment males, like your Hemingways, Descartes and Aristotles saw what was going on, they'd recommend burning the system down to the ground.
When decadent, vein & degenerate males go on to a #podcast and abuse language by calling themselves "#stoic" (when the #stoics would have branded them as #narcissists, who the stoics said were the ones who destroyed #ancient #Greek #society), that's when we know the delusions and degeneracy #capitalism imposes.

Finally caught the film #Flow last night and I now have loads of thoughts swirling in my head! I distrust anyone who quotes the #Stoics. Most of the time, it’s because #Stoic #philosophy feeds into toxic #masculinity—and in my experience, atextual Stoic quotes are most often perpetrated by white men. Surprise!!! White men, quoting other white men abouting about the benefits of avoiding their emotions and avoiding being upset by things around them? Weird.

This year I've decided I will look into the #Stoics especially #Epictetus. This is from his "The Enchiridion".
I figure, why go to the East when the West also has Zen like offerings that more naturally fit Western mindsets? Besides, for me it is going back to my cultural roots.

One of my resources around #stocism is the book "The Daily Stoic". Today's quote, from #seneca, really got to me:
"Many times an old man has no other evidence besides his age to prove he has lived a long time"
At 50 years old, this kinda hits home hard for me.

When you really think about this statement, it makes you start to re-evaluate your to do list, and the things you have said yes to for others. It doesn’t mean don’t do anything for anyone else, but it does mean you should be more selective and thoughtful what you say “yes” to.
