Blargh. I get riled up whenever I have to help Mother with "computer things". Need to be stoic.
-
I’m not going out again today unless A New Stoicism which that guy typed with one toe has arrived.

If you haven't figured it out by now, in addition to being all about #DevOps and #GitHub, I have been diving into the #stoics, as well as #mindfulness, for the past few years.
One of my resources around #stocism is the book "The Daily Stoic". Today's quote, from #seneca, really got to me:
"Many times an old man has no other evidence besides his age to prove he has lived a long time"
At 50 years old, this kinda hits home hard for me.

@0xamit Happy to help!
Books
There are 3 main books about stoicism, but there is a ton of translations, if you are starting out I would go for:
Meditations - Gregory Hays
Letters of a Stoic - Robin Campbell
Discourses - Robin HardIf you want to explore similar themes, I recommend James Stockdale and Montaigne(Essays on audible are great)
There are also modern stoic writers, these are:
Donald Robertson
William B. Irvine
Massimo Pigliucci
John SellarsThey can be a bit more on the academic side, but on the plus side there is little self-help fluff there.
Also worth a mention The Practicing Stoic By Ward Farnsworth to always keep in mind the whole goal of stoicism is to actually practice.
Events
Each year, there is an event called Stoic Week that I highly recommend in participating https://modernstoicism.com/stoic-week/ it is usually the same week as Stoicon https://modernstoicism.com/stoicon/
Courses
Donald Robertsons courses are available here https://learn.donaldrobertson.name/ and I think if you get his Patreon you can get access that way too.

If you are looking for self-help, I would highly recommend to dig more into CBT which has some roots in stoicism and is used by therapists, a good course is here https://www.wondrium.com/cognitive-behavioral-therapy-for-daily-life
If you are looking for more similar content like Ryan Holiday, I would go for Farnam Street https://fs.blog/books-that-changed-my-life/ in particular if you become a member, the forum is really good
And if this was not enough, there is more here https://www.reddit.com/r/Stoicism/wiki/guide/

This poem reminds me of the importance of understanding the different types of love languages.
