  1. That eucalyptus tree above me? Its overhanging the cliff below by a good bit and is, most likely, coming down in the next decent storm. Also, this stretch of beach is actually straight despite it looking like a point, perspective is a wacky thing. The seas were extra wild and extra wooly this afternoon! #360photography #beach #forcedperspective

  5. A #Macro, forced-perspective view of a #quartz #crystal.
In the #ForcedPerspective, the scene resembles a nearby slope up a crystal mountain chain.
In the #MacroPhotography perspective, it’s just a partial termination of a crystal growing out of its rocky matrix.
Perspectives matter, and things are rarely as they seem.
One of Fox’s (the #photographer) professors, Dr. Hakeem Oluseyi (linktr.ee/drolu) once told him, “Never trust your intuition. It will mislead you every time.”
Fox has remembered this wisdom to this day (which is impressive because Fox’s memory is terrible. Also, it was a remark about alternating current circuits, but it still applies).

  9. A #ForcedPerspective #macro #photograph of a #rock or a distant #mountain.
Manipulating the #FocalDepth and #aperture while combining it with #distorting effects, it’s possible to create an #illusion of something not real from real things.
What you see is rarely what you get.

  11. A #macrophotograhy shot of a specimen of #anthracite #coal.
Anthracite is the hardest form of coal, and has been metamorphized by heat and pressure.
Anthracite is by far the cleanest-burning coal, with the fewest toxic inclusions like #mercury and #lead, and produces the least carbon monoxide when burned. Thus, it is highly desirable in coal #stoves in homes, making it far too expensive for electricity production.
This #forcedperspective makes it appear as if a rectangular plateau looms over a plain.

  12. #MacroPhotography is also an interest of Fox (the #photographer). #Minerals and #crystals are especially interesting as subjects, both because of their properties and how their shape and viewing angle reacts with light, but also because of the #geophysical and #geochemical forces that produced them.
In this #photo, you can see a partial #termination (crystal point) of an #amethyst (#quartz/#SiO2/#silicondioxide which often contains inclusions of #iron in the crystal).
#Forcedperspective is also an interesting aspect of macro photography.

  17. This time around watching #Elf, it was pretty cool to pay close attention to how Jon Favreau used #ForcedPerspective for the elves at the North Pole. #Cinemastodon #ChristmasMovie
