  5. HOW DID WE BECOME SO
    CONFUSED ABOUT REALITY? 💎

That may be the question A Course in Miracles is really trying to answer. Its answer is almost absurdly simple:

    We believed our own interpretation.

In the Course’s story, there is the tiny mad idea of separation, and instead of recognising it as meaningless, the mind takes it seriously. From there come guilt, fear, projection, and, eventually, a world outside ourselves that seems to explain why we feel frightened and divided.

    Then the confusion becomes convincing.

The body says, “I am here.” The eyes say, “There is a world out there.” Pain says, “Something outside me has hurt me.” Death says, “Life ends.” And generation after generation inherits the same interpretation and calls it reality.

What I love about ACIM is that it doesn’t ask us to replace one complicated worldview with another. It keeps bringing us back to something much simpler: "Perhaps what I am seeing does not mean what I think it means?"

"I gave everything I see all the meaning it has for me."

That changes everything. Because if reality itself is not broken, then reality does not need repairing. Only perception does. And perhaps even that is too much.

Sometimes the confusion simply stops being fed. The commentary goes quiet.

    And reality is still there.

  14. Win! A NSW Supreme Court judgment has clearly distinguished criticism of Israel from antisemitism, settling important questions about the IHRA conflation and its weaponizing by governments and institutions.

“The IHRA core text is so verbose and imprecise that it could not realistically be attributed to the ordinary, reasonably informed member of the Australian public,” Justice Fagan says. The examples, he says, “indicate that the IHRA wording is not intended to give effect to the extant common understanding of antisemitism” but is directed to grafting “onto the community’s abhorrence of antisemitism, understood as hostility to Jews for their Jewishness, a parasitic rejection of protest against Israel. Seen in that light, the IHRA proposal is detached from the reality of the common usage and understanding of antisemitism in this country.”

  15. "In 2023, 60 per cent of Australians rejected a constitutionally recognised Voice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. A body that could only make representations, only on matters concerning the people whose ancestors have been here sixty thousand years.
"Too much, the No campaign shrieked. Division. Privilege. Special treatment.
"Nine months later, Anthony Albanese handed Jillian Segal what the Voice never dreamed of asking for. Not a right to be heard. Power. No election. No parliamentary vote. No hearing. A three year commission reporting personally to the Prime Minister, with a mandate reaching into every campus, newsroom, classroom, gallery, charity, arts contract and visa file in the Commonwealth."

  22. Foreign influence in Australia

"The reach [of the Israel lobby] extends into the newsrooms and it has been there for decades. Veteran ABC journalist John Lyons documented it in his 2021 book Dateline Jerusalem, writing that in forty years of journalism he had never encountered a lobby as formidable, well-funded, or relentlessly effective as the pro-Israel lobby in Australia, and that material the lobby succeeded in suppressing here was routinely published in Israel without consequence or controversy."

Its Changing Meaning », Journal of Palestine Studies, vol. 16, no 3 (Spring, 1987), pp. 53-67).

  31. #NGOs #funding vs. #NeverAgain in #Germany

"Fifteen Israeli NGOs said it ‘would be instrumentalised to attack and constrain German funding for our human rights work’."

"The resolution calls for immigration, asylum and criminal law to be tightened to combat antisemitism, and for universities, where antiwar activists have occupied buildings and set up encampments, to be granted wider powers to discipline and expel students. All levels of government are asked to prevent the financial support of projects and organisations – Documenta is mentioned as an example – that ‘spread antisemitism, question Israel’s right to exist, call for a boycott of Israel or actively support the BDS movement’. The IHRA definition is to be considered ‘authoritative’. The new resolution cites the 2019 BDS text as its model, ignoring a parliamentary assessment from a year later, which found that if that resolution had been formulated as legislation, it ‘would not be compatible with the fundamental right to freedom of expression and would therefore be unconstitutional’."

"With a non-binding resolution, recipients of state funding will be drafted, willing or unwilling, as enforcers. Curators, convenors of academic conferences and charity administrators will be expected to screen and blacklist any partners or collaborators who could be seen to violate the IHRA guidelines. An old social media post or a signature on a petition could result in funds being withdrawn."
