On Tuesday, Nintendo announced that they will be hosting their own conference in Seattle called Nintendo Live this September. This comes after the cancellation of E3, and it’s the first time that the event will be held in North America. Nintendo of America President, Doug Bowser, stated that the conference will give fans an opportunity to expand their experience with Nintendo and create lasting memories with family, friends, and the wider Nintendo community. On Wednesday, Warner Bros. Discovery announced details on the upcoming merging of HBO Max and Discovery+ into Max. At the event they announced that the service will feature a Penguin spinoff from DC, a new spinoff of The Big Bang Theory along with new content from other franchises they own. The services will cost $9.99 a month for the tier with ads, $15.99 for the ad-free plan and $19.99 for 4K. They also said that they will also offer Discovery+ alone.

On Wednesday, Databricks released Dolly 2.0, it’s the first open source large language model. At an MIT conference, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said that OpenAI doesn’t plan to release a new version of GPT in the near future.

In space news this week, SpaceX is set to embark on an exciting new mission as they prepare for the Orbital Flight Test of their Starship, scheduled for Monday. This test will mark the first time that a fully stacked Starship will take to the skies, representing a major milestone in the ongoing development of space exploration technology. The launch window is 150 minutes long, with a backup window scheduled for the following day in case of any unforeseen issues.
