We should be celebrating the return of complexity and look forward to some cross-pollination, hybrid vigour, not bemoaning the loss of a single funnel for everyone’s thoughts (except that was never true, was it? Only a minority were ever on the bird site a loud minority, but a minority nonetheless).

While so great was his fright

Wisdom! Ignore winter, or jestpost it away.

"When Winter comes, we shall toot our jestposts with extra vigour," Joan Mastodon said. "Winter, like the Great Algo, abhors jesting, and it will retreat and make way for Spring."

  16. The phrase "pulling out all the stops", meaning to do something particularly well, commiting fully or with particular vigour, aplomb and excellence, comes from organ playing. Stops determine what airflow goes to what pipes. When you "pull out all the stops", the organ is at full force. #language #phrases

  17. My hydroponic garden that was 'salad greens, oh let's try petunia and tomatoes too' turned into tomato jungle with petunia sticking out the sides. Mizuna was very strong for a while, but most plants lost their vigour, and one decided to flower and is now producing thin pods. It's also late in the season, and cold in the open balcony, so there is that.
Meanwhile with all that tomato flowering, I finally see a fruit! No idea if it manages to ripen, but I get new subjects for my #macro lens (Canon 100mm/2.8 Macro, non-USM version).

  21. Sometimes reviewers just get it, and Locus Magazine really, really got #TheNightward.

"Garcia writes with deft vigour, creating compelling characters and a clear sense of a world bursting with history and possibility, drama and threat."

  22. @eunews Yes, cope harder!

Let's take a moment to savour Axel Springer's libertarian tears by remembering how #Politicoistrash dealt with the EU's post-pandemic #RRF Recovery Fund:

("Merkel stood for reformist vigour" lmao... remember, #EuroBILD is where the Brussels bubble scurries to sell access and scoops to its right-wing tabloid masters in exchange for #EU bubble buzz and being featured in Politico's year-end cringefest "most influential" lists!)

  23. #Plutarch #ParallelLives #Theseus 2/

For verily that age produced men who, in work of hand and speed of foot and vigour of body, were extraordinary and indefatigable, but they applied their powers to nothing that was fitting or useful. Nay rather, they exulted in monstrous insolence, and reaped from their strength a harvest of cruelty and bitterness, mastering and forcing and destroying everything that came in their path.

  24. CW: Edging as a reward

A blissful #edging session energises me and helps me #work more efficiently. It’s also a #reward. When my #penis is masturbated, I know it’s because I’ve been a #GoodBoy I can feel what a good boy I’ve been right down to the core of my shaft. I can feel the reward in each and every part of my body. With each stroke, my brain gets the message: “Good boys deserve to be masturbated. You’ve been a good boy, so you deserve to be masturbated. Spread your legs wide open, expose your cock and let yourself be rewarded.” And who am I to object? Then, after 15 minutes of this highly gratifying care, I feel #rested and #recharged. Ready to work again with renewed #vigour and #motivation. Willing to work efficiently to get my reward faster. Prepared to show just how good of a boy I am. Because I know what kind of reward I’ll get for being a good boy. And how #incredible that reward will be.

  25. Hey, I've revived my moribund personal book review blog in order to post my thoughts on the Hugo Nominated 'Life Does Not Allow Us to Meet' novella by He Xi, because it requires a certain . . . vigour of expression to convey the strength of my displeasure that would probably not be welcome at other outlets.

  26. I'm not allowed to comment on driving the #Polestar4 in Spain but I CAN comment on Spanish roads: they're BRILLIANT.
Deliciously smooth slices of mountain tarmac just BEGGING to be driven with vigour.
The only problem? The speed limits on these corners are 30 km/h (19 mph!)😭
I felt like I was in 𝘋𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘚𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘢 𝘋𝘢𝘪𝘴𝘺 on those curves.

  27. Still, my proudest addition to the yard is among its smallest. You go tiny Arbutus! ❤️ 🌱 One day we will marvel at your height and breadth just as we now marvel at your resilience and vigour! #gardening #PortAlberni #Arbutus #PacificMadrone #transplant

  28. Road tubeless has come on nicely since I started about 10 years ago. These bad boys with hookless rims were a dream to set up. Pushed the tyres on *easily* by hand -- no levers required -- and just some brief vigour with the track pump and done! Must have taken about 60 seconds per wheel! And they stayed inflated overnight without sealant! I honestly have had more trouble with tubes. Love these #tubeless #bike #wheels by #Zipp 😊

  29. #PlumbagoEuropaea, aka the #commonleadwort, is a plant found in the Mediterranean Basin and Central Asia.

    It’s also 💜-ing #melbourne at the moment!!

It’s everywhere and blooming with vigour.

This one is a wild-child… growing in a carpark and very happy indeed. It has spread to around 1.7 metres tall and about 5 metres wide.

Most of its blooms are full, the petals are shaped and defined with a single indentation along the length of each petal, from the ovary (centre), extending out the to the rounded petal edge.

The violet colour is consistent and gorgeous.

#Plumbago here has been a real pleasure this summer (and autumn!).
