I planned my next build with bar end shifters and TRP hylex brakes in silver. Turns out the TRP hylex in silver are unavailable everywhere I look and the black ones are more expensive than even shimano 105 integrated shifter levers and brakes. In the end I ordered some Sensah Team Pro because I like double tap operation more than the shimano way. The sensah exist in both sram and shimano cable pull version depending on the model you use. The Team Pro ones use shimano.

Unsure if it will be a temporary or definitive setup.

Denn ein wichtiger Bestandteil des Fahrradbaus ist die Erstellung der idealen Rahmengeometrie für Custom-Bikes, bei dem wir kein Detail unbedacht lassen. So wie in diesem Fall, die Länge des Sitzrohrs und damit verbunden das Sloping des Rahmens.

Inherited a retro Specialized Hardrock Comp today.

From what I can tell (from a very quick look) all the parts seem in _fairly_ good nick. It's just pretty rusted.

I've never done a retro bike rebuild (but have often thought about it), but this looks like a good one to start.

New chain & cables to start and see how I get on. The triple chainring at the front might need to be replaced.

Building a biketruck style cargo frame. Debating if I should put a mid-drive motor mount, or a normal BB shell on there.

The middle tube would be a mixte-style double tube that would actually extend out over the front wheel and have a rack mounted on it (but you can't do that in the free version of BikeCAD).

Front wheel would be a 20" to keep the center of mass of the front load low. Rear is probably going to be a 26" to make towing a bit easier.

Aight, project time: I'm trying to get this MB-1 built up before September for some chill autumnal cruises and as my commuter for my EMT-B classes I'll be starting in... holy shit, 5 days. I need to decide on whether I'm staying 8 speed or joining the modern era (still sticking with a triple up front, or maybe a "Turkey Vulture" double). I'm gonna get a little flashy with my brakes and get some anodized dia-compe cantis, green and blue, and a matching set of levers. I'm planning on going with friction shifters, just a question of whether I am cheaping out and getting Microshift or balling out and getting some Riv Silvers. I'm hoping to find some fun straddle hangers, some silver metal fenders and maybe wrap things up with a Pellago commuter front rack to hold my textbooks.
I still need to pick a rear hub (36 holes, 135 OLD, and preferably not one of those newfangled hubs that sound like a goddamn buzzsaw), run spoke calculations, and pick a set of dynamo powered lights. This is going to be my first wheel build (and then I have 4 more sets I'll need to build up for my housemates. I think buying a truing stand is justified at this point. :P)

I'm a little nervous about the damage to the drive-side chainstay, but I'll be treating the area with boiled linseed oil to prevent further rust and will be crossing all of my fingers and toes extra hard.

Road tubeless has come on nicely since I started about 10 years ago. These bad boys with hookless rims were a dream to set up. Pushed the tyres on *easily* by hand -- no levers required -- and just some brief vigour with the track pump and done! Must have taken about 60 seconds per wheel! And they stayed inflated overnight without sealant! I honestly have had more trouble with tubes. Love these #tubeless #bike #wheels by #Zipp 😊

New #BikeBuild with #SRAM red #etap #AXS groupset, my first electronic groupo. Pairing the derailleurs to the shifters was a new and novel experience for me. Even more so was updating the firmware on each derailleur and shifter! The SRAM AXS app works very nicely BTW. Can't believe that my phone is now in charge of my bike electronics.

There's lots I'd redo, and perhaps I will another time. Many mistakes were made, the rear brake housing should probably have come around the fork, the bar tape is icky, the caps HAVE to be replaced, etc, etc. But you know what? I'm pretty proud. Everything is working. And it's not going to be a daily ride anyway. I may strip it all and install hydraulic next fall, and take what I've learned and do better.
