September is National suicide prevention month and many members of the Invisible Disability Community are at high risk but, they're not alone. Individuals in the LGBTQIA community are "four times more likely" to make such an attempt for much the same reason as disabled individuals. The way they are mistreated and stigmatized in society. It is also the second leading cause of death for young people in the US between the ages of 18 and 25. "Native American communities experience higher rates of suicide compared to all other racial and ethnic groups in the US being the eighth leading cause of death…".
I thought this would be a good time to migrate and repost a piece I did on TBI "traumatic brain injury" and suicide to include these other at risk groups. What can you do if someone in your life is at risk? Spend some time with them, don't be judgmental, listen and love. If you see them being victimized or bullied, stand up and say something.

Why support is so important for those that live with TBI and Brain Injury. Between 2014 to 2017, the traumatic brain injury-linked death rate rose from 16.3 to 17.5 per 100,000 people.
There were 61,131 TBI-linked deaths in 2017 alone, and nearly half of these deaths were by suicide or homicide from 2015 to 2017. Last summer, a rash of suicides on the USS Washington raised questions about lack of support and services said to contribute to these deaths.The links below present the dismal statistics and some ways to help prevent suicide among the population living with Brain Injuries and other marginalized people.

#MorningListening was GZA's *Beneath the Surface*, and afternoon listening was *Only Built 4 Cuban Linx...*, and this is keeping up a week or so of steady listening to the Wu that came out of nowhere.
I'm not complaining.
Three random observations about Beneath the Surface, an album I've probably listened to top-to-bottom at least a hundred times, likely more:
1) The album's sound isn't as cohesive/holistic as Liquid Swords - LS being 100% the RZA on production, BtS being a mix of Wu members & affiliates - but I am not sure there is a bad track on the thing. It doesn't hurt that neither LS or BtS suffers from the CD era's overstuffed-album-length problem. LS is the obvious classic but album for album, BtS is arguably just as good.

I listened to this #StrikeForceFive podcast, and honestly, it was pretty fun! I don't hate it. But is there a version of this podcast that isn't entirely five straight white dudes? A freewheeling conversation between, say, Amber Ruffin, Hasan Minhaj, Trevor Noah, Lilly Singh, and Jenny Hagel would absolutely crack me up. New #MenITrust record, "Equus Asinus," is crazy good!
I was already in love with "All My Candles" but the whole album is a true keeper. And I think they are supposed to release a companion to this album later this year.
This turned out to be a great #NewMusicFriday and I haven't even dug too far past the bigger names yet.
But all four of these records will get a lot of play for a while (Japanese Breakfast, Previous Industries, No ID/Saba, Men I Trust).

"A brutal freeze gripped Florida over the weekend. It forced fruit and berry growers into all-night efforts to save their harvests from frost damage, reported AccuWeather.
What's happening?
"Temperatures fell to the 20s and 30s across the central and southern portions of the state. At those temperatures, crops can suffer harm within a short window.
"Growers ran water over their fields after dark. Though it sounds backward, spraying crops with water actually protects them. Ice forming on plants releases small amounts of heat, keeping the fruit warmer than the surrounding air.
" 'It's an all-hands-on-deck deal,' said Matt Joyner, CEO of Florida Citrus Mutual. 'Family gets recruited. Everybody gets recruited to go out and help in preparation.'
"Joyner noted that growers haven't faced cold this severe since 2010.
"Plant City orange grower Trevor Murphy said his trees sat in sub-28-degree air for six-plus hours on back-to-back nights. He's already spotting damage and believes many of the young trees he planted this winter won't survive.
" 'Coldest and longest duration of cold I've had since I've been growing oranges,' Murphy told AccuWeather.
"AccuWeather projects that 8% to 10% of unharvested oranges may be ruined. Another cold stretch looms this weekend."

I am familiar with Caputo's basic argument, and quite a bit of his other writings, but have not read this through before.
I admittedly have a soft spot for Caputo's work, and for this vein of deconstructionist thought, so I expect to generally enjoy this.
Less sure how much I'll agree/disagree, which is part of why I decided to give it a go. It's been a while since I've really engaged with #Derrida et al, who played a very big role in my (intellectual? philosophical?) journey.
I'm as interested in my own response as I am in the book itself, I think!
