  2. @junesim63

yes, it all sounds familiar from the #healthservice doesn't it.... the #Tories small-state 'philosophy' (although its more like a prejudice to be frank) which underpins their agressive defunding of the #publicsector while syphoning off money to their chums is having widespread real wild consequences.... the difficulty is the media often don't want to put 2 + 2 to get 4!

  3. @KimSJ @Davidjackson

Agreed; starving a model of funding does not provide evidence of the need for reform, ir provides evidence that you cannot run an under-funded #healthservice!

  4. Really still trying to connect, also with the international community. I am working in #healthservicesresearch at the #UniversityofCologne, heading a research group of 12. I am mostly working of secondary/ #claimsdata analysis, also #datamanagement and #datalinkage. Other work topics are #integratedcare and #businesscase development for #HealthIT.
    Outside work I do #DIY ( #woodworking #metalworking ), #gardening and #beekeeping

Just a reminder to anyone in the UK government who may happen to come across this. Pay the nurses and doctors anything they want.
When we need them, they’re there. Unlike the politicians who permanently seem to let us down.

  6. The #Tories plan to wreck the #healthservcie is compounded by its attacks on the #universities, leaving the #NHS workforce strategy struggling to get going, due to both a lack of applicants, who (strangely) are put off by the Govt.'s attitude(s) to NHS #workers, alongside a lack of staff to teach them as universities themselves suffer their own problems.

Saving the NHS will require more than just saving the NHS - we need a comprehensive re-valuing of the #publicsector

  7. SO it looks like San Francisco "moderate" supervisors and #MayorLurie are happy to talk public safety, but still don't have a functional plan to actually address the complex intersection of #addiction, #HealthServices and #housing needed to actually make progress. And I haven't heard ANY of them talk about the problems we need to see solved, and what the barriers are. (Cont)

Great to see new attention to this study showing unintended consequences to #FDA's Unapproved Drugs Initiative - also a great example of how #HealthServicesResearch can contribute to policy change, since the UDI was terminated in 2020, citing this work: govinfo.gov/content/pkg/FR-202 #HealthPolicy #RxPolicy

  9. CW: mental health, physical health, health services

Launch of new resource for users of mental health services in relation to their physical health issues.

"Every day in Australia 30 people with mental illness die early of common chronic physical health conditions and most of these premature deaths are due to preventable health conditions like heart disease, diabetes and cancer"

  10. So the Q. for #NHS patients as the #healthservice seeks to transform the possibility for health data analysis is:

Do you trust any of those involved with your private #health data?

And if enough of us don't & opt-out then the whole project will continue with the skewed data analysis that has become apparent in #healthcare.

But if do trust the those involved, recent experience suggest that #privacy often ends up being violated by external forces...

    a conundrum?

  11. There is a certain irony in the news that the number of senior #NHS doctors migrating to better paid jobs with better working conditions is growing.

For years, the UK has 'benefitted' from recruiting staff from poorer countries (who have trained #HealthService staff) for the the NHS.

Now, we have become one of those countries; as the NHS remans subject of #Tories wrecking, defunding & attrition on working lives, so the prospects of working abroad grow.

    What goes around, comes around!

  12. I'm spotting a pattern here:

    First #JeremyHunt attempt to wreck the #healthservcie while Health Sec. then on the bankbenches tries to claim to be the voice of reason (and is feted as such by the media) on #healthcare reform;

now #GeorgeOsborne (as chair of the Northern Powerhouse Partnership), ex-Chancellor & stealth cutter of funds to #localauthorities argues that the UK needs to remove the role of the #Treasury from local Govt

Damascene conversion or more #Tory hypocrisy?
    take your choice!

  13. "The hidden costs are astronomical," said Chima Ndumele, a professor at the Yale School of #PublicHealth.

Belt-tightening that would target states could translate into fewer #HealthServices, medical professionals & even #hospitals, especially in #rural communities.
The #GOP's plan would curtail a practice, known as #ProviderTaxes, that nearly every state has used for decades to increase #Medicaid payments to hospitals, #NursingHomes & other providers & to private managed-care companies.
