What Triodos does not mention:

❗If emissions in Europe and from European companies and consumers are drastically limited, this still only results in a small reduction of global emissions.
❓ Why, then, is it still good for the European economy to have a "policy that directly manages and moderates total energy and material demand"?

As a layperson, I will offer a few hints:

✅ - European regulations have a major influence on the way of producing in other parts of the world;
✅ - By limiting consumption, we become less dependent and spend less money;
✅ - and we can forgive the debts of former colonies so that they are not forced into environmental pollution;
✅ - By tackling polluting companies, clean companies get a better chance to grow
✅ - if we prioritize well-being over financial prosperity, we will pollute less
✅ - if Europe bans the exploitation of workers, we will pay the true price of clothing and food
✅ - if we improve our behavior, we also set an example for others.
Am I missing something?

An ultra #rich class does NOT indicate #prosperity. Rather, it points to a severe #WealthInequality caused by a #corrupt system that enables #WealthConsolidation by a few. No amount of #honest hard work will make you that rich.

Such individuals better realize that advertising themselves with full frontpage ads in newspapers is not the flex they think it is. It's a grotesque display of ill-gotten privilege that paints a target on their back when the common folks have had enough.

There are certain philosophies that when elaborated by different parties independently, lead to highly powerful, profound insights - showing a way forward to progress and #prosperity - which when followed through lead to very similar but very unorthodox approaches. There is a universal wisdom and logic to tap into, where things get closer to #Nature and natural forces.

None of the ideas are new, the wisdom is on the street while we trample on it, on our rushed day to day. I sense (pun intended) a deep alignment to what I'm doing, and where thinking in the article ventures.
