We just spoke with new #SJSharks AGM Jeff Kealty, who was part of the Preds front office that drafted Askarov No. 11 in the 2020 Draft, but then traded him to the Sharks.
His thoughts on Yaroslav & the trade: "He's got tremendous talent. You guys have already seen that there. Tremendous athleticism. Just needs to continue to round out his game. It takes a long time at that position, certainly.
"In regards to us trading him, we had Saros and just signed him to the contract that we did. Became a little bit of an organizational decision for [Nashville], but we always believed in the upside that [Askarov] has. So I'm looking forward to to seeing him again here and seeing his career continue to progress." -

Nurse is not Marner, but Grier thinks leaving Edmonton for #SJSharks can be a breath of fresh air a la Marner leaving Toronto for Vegas:
"You saw a little bit of that with Mitch Marner getting out of Toronto. Just to be able to breathe, play hockey, and not have — sometimes you kind of feel like the weight of the world’s on your shoulders to perform, and if you lose, it’s your fault, if you win, no one really says anything.
"That’s just the life of a player in a big, big Canadian market, and if you’re a marquee player there, that always adds extra pressure to it. We think him coming here and getting out of that environment will only help his game."

Grier confirmed #SJSharks interest in Werenski: "We've made a lot of picks, we've had a lot of prospects...if we can really make our team better and add a real All-Star caliber type player, we'll definitely be looking into it."
He feels Werenski though, in general, wasn't interested in coming to the West Coast, not San Jose specifically

When I say #SJSharks rebuild is over, I’m not saying it’s been successful. That, the jury is out.
I’m simply saying, 7/1’s moves make it crystal-clear that the Sharks are not in a rebuild mode anymore. Even the Eklund trade, the No. 9 was earmarked for Byram.
