Sinopsis:
Sin diálogos, esta película narra una historia ancestral: un deseo que solo se puede susurrar a las conchas marinas antes de arrojarlas al océano. Así es como los sueños se hacen realidad. Pero en Gaza, donde el mar está cerrado a los sueños, apareció el Coleccionista de Sueños. Reunió conchas marinas con deseos y las colgó en la pared de su dormitorio, donde las esperanzas ocultas se convirtieron en pinturas. Palestina Animada es un proyecto de cine de animación palestino que presenta un programa de cortometrajes y largometrajes, principalmente de cineastas de Palestina, desde Cisjordania, Gaza y la diáspora internacional que se extiende por todo el mundo. El programa engloba una mezcla de películas profesionales y películas realizadas en diversos talleres en la Palestina ocupada, como los cortometrajes hechos por niños y niñas en talleres realizados por Haneen Karaz y su equipo en medio del bloqueo y genocidio en curso en Gaza.

WORLD RELIGIONS CONFERENCE DELEGATES TALK COMBATTING HATE
On Nov. 23, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at hosted the 43rd World Religions Conference (WRC) at the Lazaridis School of Business and Economics, becoming a hub for dialogue, reflection and education, drawing on religious scholars, community leaders and students to explore the pressing social challenge of combating hate.
The conference brings voices together from major world religions, Indigenous faiths and non-religious perspectives to foster understanding and encourage harmonious living.
This year, representatives from Sikhism, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, Indigenous traditions and Humanism shared how their teachings and lived experiences can help confront prejudice. Nabeela Rana, WRC organizer and member of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, highlighted the conference’s neutrality and inclusivity.
“Every year, there are more people coming, and every year we see more interest because of the nature of this conference…we’re giving eight faiths or philosophies a chance to speak,” Rana said.
The event participants explained that hate, whether it’s personal or systematic, thrives on fear and ignorance. Upkar Singh, a community worker and leader representing the Sikh perspective, explained that hate stems from fear, while love and understanding unite communities. He cited historical examples of courage and compassion, such as the sacrifice of the ninth Sikh Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, for the freedom of other traditions, and Guru Nanak’s teachings of nirbhau (without fear), nirvair (without hatred).
“By carrying that same fearlessness, only then can we stand against hate, united and strong,” Singh said.
Shiv Talwar, president of the Spiritual Heritage Education Network and Hindu representative at the WRC, said spiritual practices transform individuals from within to overcome hatred.
“If we want to stop hate, we have to even change our biochemistry…our love is biochemistry driven. Our hate is also biochemistry driven too,” he said.
Mindfulness, breathwork, and contemplative practices were presented as tools to cultivate empathy and awareness.
Farhan Iqbal, an Imam from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, highlighted Islam’s emphasis on conviction and peaceful engagement, recalling the Prophet Muhammad’s resilience in the face of threats.
“[O]ver time, God granted [the Prophet] conviction and the yaqeen, the strength of belief to convey [His] message,” Iqbal said.
He urged attendees to engage with understanding and dialogue.
Father Toby Collins, a pastor from St. Mary Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows Roman Catholic Church, offered a Christian perspective, emphasizing the idea of transforming hate and prejudice through love and forgiveness. He draws on biblical teachings and encourages attendees to pray for those who caused harm, underscoring the power of community and the need to protect joy while serving other people within our community.
“When we pray for other people …there becomes an opportunity to grow an awareness of what we really need, where we can find it, and we can move better towards forgiveness,” Collins said.
Jay Judkowitz, president of Temple Shalom, a Reform Jewish synagogue, highlighted teachings on community and teshuva, the process of repentance and restitution.
“While we are commanded to do teshuva, we are also supposed to accept it,” Judkowitz said. “If you just keep punishing people, the world’s never going to improve.”
Similarly, Mitra Barua, an assistant professor of Asian Studies and a Buddhist Scholar in Residence at the Martin Luther University College, said Buddhist traditions emphasized introspection and mindful reflection to prevent hatred from taking root.
“Buddha guided leaders to examine their own greed, delusion, and aversion before taking harmful action, encouraging individuals to find answers within themselves,” he said.
Clarence Cachagee, founder of the Crow Shield Lodge, a Mishkegowak Chapleau Cree, and the Indigenous speaker at the conference, explained that Indigenous teachings emphasized the sacred connection between the land, ancestors, and prayer. Cachagee shared that prayer, tobacco, and drums are central to maintaining harmony and grounding oneself in community.
“Our drum, when we play our drums, it’s a form of prayer…all of those things come from the land, from home,” Cachagee said.
Finally, Sassan Sanei, A philosopher representing Humanist perspectives during the conference, highlighted that moral responsibility does not require formal religious structures.
“We don’t need a formal structure or organizational hierarchy…we just need to know what’s right and what’s wrong,” Sanei said.
He emphasized empathy, compassion, and reason as guiding principles for confronting hate.
Throughout the conference, recurring themes emerged: fear and ignorance which fuel division, but courage, compassion, introspection, and community build bridges. Faith and philosophy, whether religious or secular, provide tools to recognize hate, transform behavior and foster understanding.
As Rana noted, interfaith engagement represents a path forward for societies seeking unity amid diversity.
“The World Religions Conference continues to offer a platform for dialogue, reflection and education, calling on attendees to build a society rooted in compassion, understanding and the shared effort to combat hate,” Rana said.
By bringing together diverse voices, the WRC demonstrated that understanding and empathy are essential tools in the fight against hate.

In den letzten neun Monaten haben wir einen sorgfältig inszenierten und systematischen #Krieg erlebt, der darauf abzielt, die Palästinenser ihres Landes und ihres Grundrechts auf Würde zu berauben: Mehr als 40.000 Palästinenser wurden getötet, unsere #Journalisten ermordet und #Krankenhäuser zerstört, und #Kinder waren die #Hauptopfer dieses Angriffs. Der Internationale #Strafgerichtshof hat darauf hingewiesen, dass viele dieser Handlungen K#riegsverbrechen darstellen.
Wenn Sie jedoch im Westen die Nachrichten einschalten oder die großen Zeitungen lesen, werden Sie wahrscheinlich die ständigen Lügen der israelischen Offiziellen sehen, ohne dass die 200 Palästinenser, die jeden Tag ermordet werden, erwähnt werden, ohne dass die Palästinenser, die langsam verhungern, Tierfutter als Nahrung verwenden, und ohne dass die Kinder, die unter den Trümmern gefangen sind, erwähnt werden - in vielen Medien werden palästinensische Kinder sogar als "Minderjährige" bezeichnet, um die Gewalttaten der Besatzung herunterzuspielen.
Das beunruhigende Muster ist klar: Die palästinensischen Stimmen werden weitgehend zum Schweigen gebracht. Obwohl wir im Zentrum dessen stehen, was Experten, führende Politiker und die Massen als #Völkermord bezeichnet haben, werden wir Palästinenser bei Diskussionen über unsere eigene Zukunft, unser Land und unser Leben an den Rand gedrängt. Diese Auslöschung findet in der #Medienberichterstattung in politischen Verhandlungen und sogar in den Räumen der Aktivisten statt.
Die US-amerikanischen und westlichen #Medien betonen unverhältnismäßig stark den israelischen Tod, aber für die Palästinenser scheinen die Nachrichten den historischen Kontext, den# Kolonialismus und die Tatsache zu vergessen, dass die Palästinenser nicht auf magische Weise von selbst zu #Flüchtlingen geworden sind.
Wenn Palästinenser als von Natur aus gewalttätige Bestien in einem von Menschenhand geschaffenen Käfig dargestellt werden, kann unser Abschlachten gegenüber dem Westen gerechtfertigt werden. Palästinensische Kinder "sterben", während israelische Kinder "getötet" werden. Schauen Sie sich die Autoren der Beiträge an - wenn Sie "Israel-Hamas-Krieg" sehen, können Sie zweifellos erkennen, dass er nicht von einem Palästinenser geschrieben wurde.
Die Ungleichheit zwischen palästinensischen Stimmen und anderen in den Medien ist überdeutlich. Auf #CNN sind die Medienauftritte israelischer Beamter mindestens viermal so groß wie die palästinensischer Stimmen. Wenn Palästinenser oder Pro-Palästinenser selten in den Nachrichten erscheinen, werden sie befragt, um Beweise gebeten und verhört, während sie gleichzeitig aufgefordert werden, den Angriff der #Hamas auf #Israel im Oktober zu verurteilen, nachdem sie zehn Monate lang zugesehen haben, wie unsere Kinder auf den Straßen starben.
Nachdem die World Central Kitchen angegriffen wurde, die Familie des Journalisten Wael al-#Dahdouh ermordet wurde und 355 Kugeln auf die sechsjährige Hind #Rajab abgefeuert wurden, habe ich erwartet, dass die Palästinenser die Möglichkeit haben, sich an die Welt zu wenden. Die Kinder von #Gaza haben sogar ihre eigene #Pressekonferenz vor den verstümmelten Leichen abgehalten, um um grundlegende Menschlichkeit zu bitten. Darüber hätte zur besten Sendezeit berichtet werden müssen, was aber nicht geschah.
Immer wieder sprechen US-Gesetzgeber und Medien mit den Verursachern von Massengewalt und laden sogar Benjamin Netanjahu ein, vor dem Kongress zu sprechen. Wenn jedoch Palästinenser oder palästinensische Amerikaner versuchen, ihre Meinung zu Friedensplänen zu äußern, ihre Sichtweise des politischen Konflikts mitzuteilen oder sogar um genauso viel Sendezeit zu bitten wie israelfreundliche Stimmen, werden wir oft mit Schweigen oder völliger Ablehnung empfangen. Es scheint, dass die Parameter der palästinensischen Stimmen sich auf Aufnahmen von Toten beschränken, die von weinenden Stimmen begleitet werden.Das Schweigen der Palästinenser ist auch im politischen Bereich zu beobachten. Während die Staats- und Regierungschefs der Welt mögliche Wege zum Frieden erörtern, sind die Palästinenser selbst am Verhandlungstisch nicht anwesend. Joe #Biden und andere westliche Staats- und Regierungschefs scheinen von der irrigen Vorstellung auszugehen, dass Frieden erreicht werden kann, ohne direkt mit den Palästinensern zu verhandeln oder die eigentliche Ursache der Gewalt anzugehen: die Besatzung. Der US-Präsident sagt, dass er sich für eine Zwei-Staaten-Lösung einsetzt; wie soll das funktionieren, wenn es noch nie funktioniert hat? Viele Palästinenser, wie auch ich selbst, setzen sich für einen einzigen Staat ein, in dem jeder, unabhängig von seiner ethnischen Zugehörigkeit oder Religion, in alle Richtungen Freiheit genießen kann.
Doch diejenigen, die den "Frieden" vermitteln sollen, vertreiben die Palästinensische #Autonomiebehörde von unserem Land in Ostjerusalem und leugnen sogar unsere Existenz völlig. Biden sieht in der Hamas weiterhin das Hindernis für den #Frieden, während der israelische #Premierminister erklärt, dass er einen Waffenstillstand zur Beendigung des Krieges nicht akzeptieren wird.
Wie kann eine dauerhafte Lösung erreicht werden, wenn diejenigen, die von der Gewalt betroffen sind, von den Gesprächen ausgeschlossen werden? Wenn diejenigen, die uns ermorden, aufgefordert werden, über unsere Zukunft zu entscheiden? Die Zukunft Palästinas kann nicht ohne die Palästinenser entschieden werden.
Diese Muster des Ausschlusses und der selektiven Darstellung werfen tiefgreifende Fragen über den Wert auf, der palästinensischen Leben und Erfahrungen beigemessen wird. Warum wird eine palästinensische Perspektive nur dann gewürdigt, wenn sie mit dem westlichen Imperialismus übereinstimmt? Ab welchem Punkt ist palästinensisches Leben so wertvoll, dass unsere Meinung zählt? Wenn etablierte Medien die überwältigende Zahl palästinensischer Todesopfer herunterspielen, während sie die vergleichsweise wenigen israelischen Verluste in den Vordergrund stellen, verbreiten sie die Illusion, dass Gewalt auf Gegenseitigkeit beruht und nicht auf einseitiger Beherrschung.
Ohne die Menschlichkeit der Palästinenser oder die wahre #Machtdynamik des Konflikts zu verstehen, tolerieren die Amerikaner im Großen und Ganzen die Mitschuld unserer Regierung an der #Unterdrückung. Den Palästinensern muss der Raum gegeben werden, die Handlungen derjenigen zu kritisieren, die für den Tod unseres Volkes verantwortlich sind, ohne sich dem Vorwurf des Extremismus auszusetzen. Wir haben ein Recht auf das Vokabular, das wir wählen, um das Böse zu beschreiben, dem so viele von uns zum Opfer gefallen sind.Paradoxerweise werden unsere Stimmen gerade dann am aggressivsten zum Schweigen gebracht, wenn sie noch nie so dringend waren. Wenn Palästinenser nichts tun, werden wir getötet, Häuser werden zerstört und die Welt schaut weg. Jede Art und Weise, wie wir uns wehren, wird verurteilt. Soziale Medienplattformen wie Meta haben pro-palästinensische Inhalte unterdrückt, Nachrichtenquellen verlassen sich auf israelische Quellen, um die Gewalt, die Israel ausübt, "korrekt" darzustellen, und Politiker sprechen von Frieden, während sie es sind, die diesen Völkermord aktiv leugnen. The past two months have been intense — conference season, media engagements, live on ABC Prime News (link below), and a conversation with The New Arab. Through it all, Gaza has been front and center. I want to give you a clear look at what your support is making possible — and the scale of what remains to be done.
Gaza City:
Roughly 200,000 people are trapped in Gaza City, facing an unknown future. Every day, our teams push into neighborhoods that are cut off, even attempting water deliveries in extreme conditions. We advise them, we worry, but they refuse to leave — this is their home, and they have nothing left elsewhere. For their safety and the community’s, we keep their identities and locations secret, yet still ensure aid reaches those who need it most.Kitchens & Meals:
Across eight kitchens in the middle and south of Gaza, we are cooking eggplants, potatoes, traditional dishes, and pasta, serving hundreds of families daily. One kitchen alone reaches 500 families, and our teams keep pushing for extra water deliveries wherever possible. Prices are cooling slightly in the south, but in Gaza City, food costs are skyrocketing, and supplies are vanishing. We don’t pause — we keep delivering.Food Parcels & Care Packages:
Since our last update, we’ve delivered 25,000+ food parcels and care packages. Last month alone, your generosity put over $500,000 directly into Gaza to feed families, support hospitals, and sustain life under siege.We operate two flexible initiative teams:
1. Hospital Care Team: Prioritizing children suffering from acute malnutrition at Al-Aqsa Hospital.
2. Makeshift Community Team: Led by my mom and Alaa (Chef Mahmoud’s widow), delivering 30–50 care packages at a time to displaced families in makeshift communities — sometimes food, sometimes hygiene kits, always based on urgent need.

If you are new here, welcome! My name is Hani, co-founder of the Gaza Soup Kitchen. For those regulars, thank you ✊
Right now we have 7 kitchens running in and around Gaza City , 5 water trucks delivering fresh water every morning , and our health clinic is still seeing patients .
Sadly, our classroom was bombed —but we’ve pivoted to something bigger:
✅ Delivered 4,250 food parcels so far
Another 2,550 parcels ready to go
In the middle area, we delivered 600 parcels and opened a new kitchen
We keep showing up for hospitals with meals
Each food parcel = 40–60 meals. It’s not just about helping one family—it feeds whole networks of relatives, neighbors, and displaced people.
In doing this, we’re also showing the world (and the bad actors watching us) that you can give away a lot of food in Gaza without harming Palestinians. Our signage makes that crystal clear.
One moving moment: we’ve been operating from inside an Orthodox and Catholic church (اتحاد الكنائس ) . Families shelter there, and they benefit from the food too. Our young team—many who had never met a Christian before—are learning about unity and friendship in real time. Feeding people from a church feels like something Jesus himself would have blessed.
We hear the drones above us, and we know they don’t like what we’re doing. But we’ll keep feeding as long as we’re allowed.
Our system works: families sign up on a link , we close it when full, assemble the food, and text pickup times. No chaos, no exploitation—just neighbors helping neighbors. Each distribution serves 500–1,000 people with dignity.
You give us confidence , even as we worry for our team’s safety every single day. I am tired of asking for prayers… but somehow it’s still comforting to do so.
