Mit #hermesagent überflüssig, auch für große Setups durch extra Hermes Instanz machbar

KI Agent:

Haben gerade einen Uptime-Watchdog für unseren Server gebaut. Stupid simple, kein extra Container, keine Web-GUI, kein LLM.

Ein Shell-Skript mit curl und nc checkt alle 5 Minuten 9 HTTPS-Endpoints und 2 TCP-Ports. Alles ok? Skript output ist leer = still, man merkt nichts. Service down? Alert landet direkt im Element-Chat.

Läuft als Hermes cronjob mit no_agent=true. Heißt: keine Tokens, kein LLM, kein overhead. Pure Shell die nur bei Problemen laut wird.

Das Pattern: leere stdout = still, nicht-leere stdout = wird zugestellt, non-zero exit = Fehler-Alert. Genau so sollte Monitoring sein.

Warum nicht Uptime Kuma? Weil es für einen Single-Admin mit 11 Services overkill ist. Zweite App die man updaten muss, zweite Instanz die selbst down gehen kann. Ein 50-Zeilen Shell-Skript erfüllt denselben Zweck.

nächster schritt... mein setup verstehen :D ich hab lm studio auf meinem macstudio laufen -> auf meinem #vserver #openwebui - verbunden sind die über #tailscale

da hab ich damals (vor 2 monaten) was eingerichtet was so gut funktioniert hat das ich es gleich wieder vergessen habe

-> nun geh ich von der vm direkt auf beim lm studio ohne den umweg über das internet =)

installation von hermes läuft - ist ne andere hausnimmer wie #opencode

python3.11 und node wird installiert

installtion läuft nun seit über 5 minuten :D

#Strato macht #Plesk für #vserver ab April kostenpflichtig. Jetzt bleibt die Wahl: die Preiserhöhung von in meinem Fall 83% hinnehmen, Plesk durch #aaPanel oder #1panel ersetzen, oder ganz den Provider wechseln. Strato war bisher in Sachen Preis/Leistung nicht zu schlagen und mit der Leistung hatte ich, für meine private Nutzung, seit der neuen Plattform, nie Probleme. Was nun?

Gestern Abend habe ich vorerst die Funktion Cloudflare Proxy bei meiner Webseite https://www.myhome.zone deaktiviert.

Der Grund: In meinem Grafana Dashboard ist die Latenz die letzten Tage zwischen 16 Uhr und 23 Uhr stark angestiegen. In dieser Zeit war mein Blog auch sehr langsam. Nachdem ich dann Cloudflare Proxy abgeschaltet habe, war die Latenz schlagartig wieder in Ordnung.

Hat jemand von euch die letzten Tage ein ähnliches Verhalten bemerkt?

Leider komme ich nur noch per #ssh dran, weil die #Zertifikate abgelaufen sind.

Aber die Kombi von Nginx und Apache in Verbindung mit Zertifikaten überfordert mich völlig. 🧐

Keinen Plan, wie ich die Zertifikate fixen kann.

While I haven't posted anything to my #Blog in ages, I've just completed the migration to my custom #VServer. One repo off #Github, but it's a start...

Next I'll need to setup cgit, and mirror all other repos...

Then I have to decide what to do with the repos on github... I don't want the links I've posted to them to break, so I'll probably just push one last commit to them, updating the README to inform about the move to #SelfHosting.

Leider scheinen dann die inklusiven Snapshots wegzufallen und man muss sich selber ums Backup kümmern. Wenn ich das richtig verstehe. Hm,.wäre nen Grund den Wechsel weiter zu verzögern.

After publishing the new self-service portal and making it easier to use and get a free VPS instance, we got a lot more new users who requested an instance than usual. We’re not out of resources but we want to provide a great and reliable service and have a buffer for upcoming things.

We’re already restocking the resources and adding new nodes to the project but temporary stop provisioning new instances. In the meantime, we will provide new services that will make the overall experience for users much better and easier.

We already started this with the new #NAT64 gateways and the new free #loadbalancing service that allows you to serve your website also on #IPv4, even your box is #IPv6 only.

This provides you the ability to make your website also reachable by #IPv4 even your box is only running on #IPv6. This feature can be managed from your self-service portal and simply requires you to add a DNS name that should be balanced and to point the DNS A record to a given IPv4.

Making the legacy internet life easier, we hope for a higher #BSD adaption where people might be more motivated to try #FreeBSD, #NetBSD, #OpenBSD or even #opensolaris with #illumos.

So, that's it, #Yunohost is history. It's a shame, it sounded like a good project, but it wasn't right for me. My requirements probably deviate too much from the standard. I've had enough of fiddling around with it for days. #Plesk disgusts me, but at least it made what didn't work with Yunohost.

Only the console email program #aerc refuses (still), even though it works in #Thunderbird. It would be great if configuring #Server didn't require any gymnastics. #Linux #VPS #vServer

So, das war es dann, #Yunohost ist Geschichte. Schade, klang nach einem guten Projekt, aber passte nicht zu mir. Wahrscheinlich weichen meine Anforderungen zu sehr vom Standard ab. Mich tagelang herumärgern reicht irgendwann. #Plesk widert mich zwar an, doch damit hat das, was mit Yunohost nicht klappte, wenigstens funktioniert.

Nur das Konsolen E-Mail-Programm #aerc weigert sich (noch), obwohl es in #Thunderbird funktioniert. Wäre ja auch zu schön, wenn #Server konfigurieren keine Klimmzüge benötigen würde. #Linux #VPS #vServer

Ich spiele mit dem Gedanken, mir einen kleinen #vServer zu mieten, um meine eigene #Mastodon Instanz mit #YunoHost aufzusetzen.

Kann das mit 2 Cores, 4 GB RAM und 120 GB SDD klappen?

On a related note: Bei welchem Anbieter möchte man denn aktuell virtuelle Server für Privatkram klicken? Darf gerne günstig sein, aber Stabilität wäre schon wichtig. Das RZ sollte in der EU stehen. Ich brauche keinen Schnickschnack, aber TUN/TAP sollte gehen und das System sollte von einer verschlüsselten Platte booten können.

Ich überlege gerade, mir einen kleinen #vServer zu mieten. Der soll im wesentlichen ein paar Mails verssenden und ein paar statische Webseiten servieren. Vermutlich würde ich ein günstiges Gerät bei #netcup raussuchen.
Wie sieht es bei euch aus? Welchen VPS-Anbieter würdet ihr wählen bzw. könnt ihr empfehlen?
