Gang, if the Thinkpad T14 Gen 7 becomes available (I think some time in April?) and you don’t see me tooting about it, can you yell at me that it’s available?

So maybe someone on fedi can help me here, but after updating my #ThinkPad #T14 #BIOS to 1.17, #fedora can no longer #suspend normally and freezes and requires a hard power-off each time. I tried some #grub stuff, many suggested fixes I found on the internet and a newer kernel (6.18 instead of 6.17) but nothing worked. So I think it may be a #Lenovo issue.

I figured I'd share my hyfetch for all of my systems, as I usually only post one at a time.

Everything is the way I want it set. It has taken a lot of time and work to get it exactly the way I want it. I am happy.

Top left: My desktop (gaming pc) running Debian 13 stable with Cinnamon DE.

Top right: My laptop, a Thinkpad T14 Gen 1, also running Debian 13 stable with Cinnamon DE.

Bottom left: My Homelab server, a HP ProDesk 600 G1 SFF, running Proxmox 9 (headless).

Bottom right: VM in the Proxmox server running Debian 13 stable (headless). This system runs the majority of my Docker services.

There is another VM for Home Assistant OS in the Proxmox server, too. I also maintain other computers that are not mine.

I am now on Cinnamon on Debian 13 (stable) with my laptop. It reminds me of when I first started on Linux Mint when switching from Windows.

Mein 3-Jähriger #Lenovo #T14 mit Windows hat idle eine Akkulaufzeit von 4h und wird schön warm. Der 6-jährige Lenovo #X1Carbon mit #PopOS #Linux hat bei Büroarbeiten immer noch eine Akkulaufzeit von 6h und bleibt schön kühl. Dito der 5-jährige T14. Die Linuxer bleiben auch schön ruhig, während der Windowsler häufig föhnt. Hauptursache für die Last unter Windows scheinen Teams, Outlook und Defender zu sein. Unter Linux scheinen diese Plagen ruhiger zu sein.
Ich mag Linux.

• Adopción del tema Brisa oscuro.
• Habilitación de la extensión #DarkReader, en Firefox, para que el #FeatherWiki que uso como página principal combine con las imágenes de fondo y cuide mi vista.
• Agregué lanzadores a la barra de tareas, uno de mis favoritos es el de #LibreOffice Impress cuyo icono personalicé, basado en un ViewMaster, como parte de mi tema de iconos Historietosos.

For information, Lenovo seems to be rolling out a firmware update for "embedded controller" for Lenovo T14 AMD Gen5. This firmware is managed by fwupdmgr, and is seen as version 0.1.8. It leads to the Qualcomm Technologies, Inc QCNFA765 Wireless Network Adapter (rev 01) beeing not seen anymore at all even with recent kernels.
Reverting to 0.1.6 with the bootable image from https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-t-series-laptops/thinkpad-t14-gen-5-type-21mc-21md/21mc/21mccto1ww/pf556999/downloads/driver-list/component?name=BIOS%2FUEFI&id=5AC6A815-321D-440E-8833-B07A93E0428C (which doesn't tell you, because it would be too simple) solves the problem.

I love #Slimbook, #Tuxedo and also #Starlabs! #System76 sell great machines, but importing one would mean a 21% VAT price surcharge.

Currently still very happy with my #Thinkpad #T14 (Gen 1, AMD). At the time, ordering without an OS wasn't possible, so I settled for M$ Wind*ws, which I immediately replaced with #Fedora. From the ordering & payment procedure I got the impression that #Lenovo didn't really want to sell anything to me at all. Delivery took 8 weeks.

так как у меня когда-то давно уже был #ThinkPad T410 я не очень зотел брать 14" потому что он казался мне громоздким

но первое впечатление от #t14 - он прям крохотуля ) и легкий. Но по факту это не так. Но ощущается компатнее и легчем чем есть на самом деле

Installed #debian linux today on a lenovo #t14 for the first time with testing according to this guide: https://averagelinuxuser.com/install-debian-testing/
Weird experience.
My original goal was to use #btrfs according to https://blackpine.io/posts/2022.04.14-installing-debian-11-with-btrfs-subvolumes-on-luks/ which failed miserably. I couldn't change back from the console with ctrl + d and or ctrl+alt+f1 as described in the text. And also df didnt show the partitions I thought I created beforehand. So I just used the graphical installed with crypted LVM partitions instead.

Since I want to get back into analog photography, I am currently trying to build my own DSLR scanning pipeline. The first result doesn't look too bad already. Currently I have the following setup: a negative holder made out of cardboard, #Thinkpad #T14 4K screen as a light panel, #Nikon #D7200 with a Micro Nikkor 105mm lens mounted on a tripod.
For postprocessing I used #Darktable with the #Negadoctor module.
