Beim Erwerb des HP-Notebooks 465 G11 vor über einem Jahr war es nicht explizit mit Linux-Unterstützung ausgewiesen und auch nicht im Linux Vendor Firmware Service vertreten. Letzteres scheint sich erfreulicherweise mittlerweile geändert zu haben, da mir über KDEs Discover und lvfs nun ein Firmware Update von 1.3.1.0 auf 1.8.1.0 angeboten wird. Schick.

@frameworkcomputer my heart jumped when I heard #LVFS spoken aloud in the official announcement. I'm both proud and grateful for what we can do working together. Keep up the great work. ♥️

We dropped the #fwupd side in https://github.com/fwupd/fwupd/commit/575b0f08281799962e8fbf6ac2ff570066fa3fe7 -- and #LVFS will stop signing with GPG when we release 2.1.1 in a few weeks time.

I think the only people that will even notice are those using #qubes to deploy updates.

Wow, a combination of "lots of people got new hardware as Christmas presents" and "first day back at work, so apply all the firmware updates"... The #LVFS is running at 3x compared to the last week. :)

So maybe someone on fedi can help me here, but after updating my #ThinkPad #T14 #BIOS to 1.17, #fedora can no longer #suspend normally and freezes and requires a hard power-off each time. I tried some #grub stuff, many suggested fixes I found on the internet and a newer kernel (6.18 instead of 6.17) but nothing worked. So I think it may be a #Lenovo issue.

Friday, before the start of the week-end I received the @frameworkcomputer #framework12 laptops for my parents.
They will be installed with #Linux of course.

As they won’t be delivered before some time, I ’m playing a bit with them. One have been installed with #fedora #silverblue, the other one with #aeondesktop.

So far I like what I’ve seen with the #gnome desktop:
* When the screen is rotated, the keyboard is disabled.
* When in tablet mode, the screen orientation follow the device orientation.
* The power draw in sleep mode looks ok.
* BIOS/UEFI update are supported with #lvfs.

But I also have some issues:
* The virtual keyboard in tablet mode, is only in qwerty, even if the system is configured with another layout.
* When the virtual keyboard appears, some windows content is not moved above the keyboard, which might make it difficult to see what one is typing.
* On the Aeon install I had to `sdbootutil --ask-pin update-predictions` after installation to have the #tpm2 unlock working.
