Both #Dell and #Lenovo have agreed to be premier sponsors for the #LVFS as part of our new sustainability effort. Over 145 million firmware updates have been deployed now, from over a hundred different vendors to millions of different Linux devices.

With the industry support from Lenovo and Dell (and #Framework, OSFF, and of course both the Linux Foundation and Red Hat) we can build this ecosystem stronger and higher than before; we can continue the great work we've done long into the future.

I'm at #PremDay at Paris and just walked past two people in the hallway I've never met in my life talking excitedly about #LVFS and #fwupd. I know it's an unusual niche open source project but it was a super proud moment for me.

Open source maintenance is 99% fixing bugs and little things like this make it all worthwhile. Thanks those 2 random people!

We dropped the #fwupd side in https://github.com/fwupd/fwupd/commit/575b0f08281799962e8fbf6ac2ff570066fa3fe7 -- and #LVFS will stop signing with GPG when we release 2.1.1 in a few weeks time.

I think the only people that will even notice are those using #qubes to deploy updates.

So maybe someone on fedi can help me here, but after updating my #ThinkPad #T14 #BIOS to 1.17, #fedora can no longer #suspend normally and freezes and requires a hard power-off each time. I tried some #grub stuff, many suggested fixes I found on the internet and a newer kernel (6.18 instead of 6.17) but nothing worked. So I think it may be a #Lenovo issue.

Friday, before the start of the week-end I received the @frameworkcomputer #framework12 laptops for my parents.
They will be installed with #Linux of course.

As they won’t be delivered before some time, I ’m playing a bit with them. One have been installed with #fedora #silverblue, the other one with #aeondesktop.

So far I like what I’ve seen with the #gnome desktop:
* When the screen is rotated, the keyboard is disabled.
* When in tablet mode, the screen orientation follow the device orientation.
* The power draw in sleep mode looks ok.
* BIOS/UEFI update are supported with #lvfs.

But I also have some issues:
* The virtual keyboard in tablet mode, is only in qwerty, even if the system is configured with another layout.
* When the virtual keyboard appears, some windows content is not moved above the keyboard, which might make it difficult to see what one is typing.
* On the Aeon install I had to `sdbootutil --ask-pin update-predictions` after installation to have the #tpm2 unlock working.

@tuxedocomputers Nä, so etwas kommt mir nicht auf den Tisch. :p Als ich meinen TUXEDO Laptop bekam, habe ich erst #FreeBSD bzw #TrueOS darauf ausprobiert, aber das hatte Probleme mit dem #ACPI für die GPU. Dann war der logische nächste Gedanke: #installgentoo!

Btw, ihr könntet mal #coreboot auf den Tisch zaubern und #Firmware updates über #LVFS anbieten. ✨ Das wäre echt cool. 👩🏻‍💻 Und es würde euch sicherlich einiges erleichtern. ;)
