The #SFGiants, happy to be home after a successful road trip, sent the #Phillies packing with an 8-4 win today. #Snell had a bit of a rough outing, surrendering all 4 Phillies runs, 3 earned, in 4 innings. In came rookie Randy Rodriguez to shut them down for 2 innings to collect the win. The kid has a sub-2 ERA off the bench.

The 2nd place in the West #Giants, now 28-27, take on #Philadelphia again tomorrow in a 9:45pm ET showdown between the Phillies' #Wheeler and the Giants' ever-popular TBD.

Melvin is starting #Snell vs the #Phillies today -- the team with the best record in the league at 38-16. 🤦‍♂️

Given how Snell imploded in his last 3.1 inning, 4 run start, I don't see why he's being put in there vs one of the hottest teams in baseball.

The #Giants have a lot of $ invested in Snell but it could be really damaging to Snell's psyche if he gets lit up again by the Phillies.

I'm hoping for the best but expect the worst, which is something I hope that Melvin is prepared for.

PS: Snell is apparently on "baby watch" and may not play anyway but, if he doesn't Melvin apparently doesn't have any starter options except to make it/a bullpen game. 🤷‍♂️

Looking more closely at the final box score, believe it or not, it turns out that #Snell wasn't the WORST pitcher yesterday.

#Roupp gave up 4 runs in 1.2 innings "in relief" of Snell and #Teng gave up 5 runs in inning "in relief" of Roupp and, including the 5 that Snell got charged with in his 4.2 innnings, that still doesn't add up to 17.🤦‍♂️

Guess Melvin ran out of pitchers because put in the rookie shortstop #Fitzgerald to pitch in the 9th who also gave up 2 runs and that still doesn't add up to 17.

The other run was given up by #Avila who pitched another inning in relief.

If you can stand it, here's Steven Kennedy's article in SB Nation focusing on Snell's "failure to launch" but the Giants' pitching failures in this game was a #GroupEffort.
