Saturday I attempted to ride with some #Brompton bros to #Tagaytay. ๐ดโโ๏ธ I bailed when we got to #Anabu. Even with #PedalAssist I had trouble keeping up. And my left hand was numb. #CarpalTunnelSyndrome
Now that Big Bike โช๏ธ๐ฒ has new ๐ + the old ๐ as backup, I was hopeful I'd make it all the way. Well, I didn't get to find out. I was suffering enough already and saw a #Starbucks. That was my cue. I said goodbye and ditched the group. ๐

Electric #bikes with #PedalAssist come in all sorts of styles and sizes. I recommend going for those step-through models.
I love my #eMTB -- it's pedal assist with a throttle and full suspension and 26" x 1.95" tires -- would be perfect if it was a step-through bike. Good for most conditions, even bumps, dirt, mud -- I avoid those of course! ๐
20km is easily covered by most models. 350W 10Ah is plenty for 40km trips with some uphill.

The old 10Ah battery is 5+ years old. I get kinda nervous when I see that it's at 47-48V. ๐ชซ
At first I thought I'd have the new cells in a bag sitting on the rear rack. Then the guy at the shop said they could put the fresh cells in the original battery case then put the old cells in the bag -- like in a car where you have the old tire as a spare and having the good tire installed. I've done my riding a few times in that neighborhood but today I looked up and saw a huuuuuge statue of what looks like #SaintMary holding baby #Jesus, on top of what would have been a home on a residential street, but is now apparently owned or used by a religious entity.

I'd like a #Class3+ #ElectricBike with front and rear suspension, belt drive (preferably), comfortable seat with a back, multiple gears, all-terrain tires (roads, bike trails, sandy beaches), long distance capacity (100+ miles, with/without #PedalAssist), dual motors and batteries (preferably), high torque for easy and "fast" hill climbing, headlight and brake light with turning signals (that work without battery, for safety), mirrors, and more for long distance riding.
Suggestions?
Been 7 weeks since I rode Big Bike โช๐ฒ -- the controls got wet and died on me. It did turn back on the next day but I hadn't gone riding with it till today.
Happy to say that the #PedalAssist still works. But something's wrong with the shifter. It's not shifting up. So it was mostly easy riding this morning since I was stuck at 4 and mostly on pedal assist.
That's the advantage of having pedal assist and* throttle. I can still get home if the shifter or gears get moody on me. ๐คช #bikes #eBikes
Last night's ride around campus wasn't so hard. #PedalAssist really helps! ๐

@ascentale @enobacon #BikeNite A2b: Somewhere inbetween. What was life-changing for me was getting a #Brompton #foldingbicycle. Adding a #pedalassist #ebike conversion kit to it (many years after buying it) only made it even more useful, but not again really life-changing. It made me ride more often, farther distances (or at least more often also farther distances) and steeper inclines. It probably didn't lower the amount of calories I burn when riding a bicycle for me.

The ride was okay. I rode alone so it was just at my own pace. ๐ข๐ฒ I wasn't trying to keep up with anyone. But we do have some hilly roads. ๐ตโโ๏ธ

Noooo!! ๐ Only if I need something from the #BikeShop in that building. I had Grey โซ๐ฒ๐ checked because I was worried about some sounds* I heard while riding.
That area is hilly and the driveway leading up to the building is pretty steep. Even with #PedalAssist I was too chicken to ride up that driveway. It's very badly* paved. For people on 2 wheels, it's an accident waiting to happen. ๐ฑ I was also afraid to ride back down. I walked my #bike. ๐

My #bike's battery was in the red and I had yet 6km to go to get home. ๐ฌ I couldn't make it on pure* pedal power with the uphills, especially because Grey is a single-speed, so I throttled it even with the battery in red. I made it home. ๐ #bikes #bicycles #eBikes #PedalAssist

Somebody brought a test unit of this #BESV #PSF1 foldable #PedalAssist #eBike at Sunday's gathering. ๐ด๐ด๐ด The vendor had asked one of the group's prominent members to try it out and give a review.
Looks impressive.

I had #BikeCitizen app recording my trip. Fortunately the battery lasted for the entire 1-way ride. I started recording at the police outpost in #Manila.
I tried to ride on pedal power and only used #PedalAssist when necessary. Even with that I struggled with this long ride. But all those stops and the encouragement from my companions helped. ๐
The pollution and traffic was terrible though. ๐ฃ!

What is the distance you would/could #bike in a day and still be comfortable* at the end of your ride?
By comfortable, I mean you're not so exhausted that all you want to do is sleep -- you still have energy to do stuff or go sightseeing.
Includes #bicycles, #unicycles, #trikes, #recumbents, #KickScooter, #pedelecs a.k.a. #eBikes with #PedalAssist... anything that uses pure/some human* pedal power.

I'm considering joining a #bike ride that's ยฑ53km one way plus ยฑ11km trip for me to get to the meetup spot. Then it's ~60km ๐ดโโ๏ธ back home.
โ๏ธ I dunno if I can handle all that distance. I aim for ~90% #PedalPower, 10%~ #PedalAssist.
โ๏ธ Getting there ๐ there'll be dozens of us, with a Ride Leader, Marshalls and Sweepers. But getting back home? There's my real dilemma. Most* will take the bus back. I can't do that. Not with a heavy #eMTB. I may* end up ๐ดโโ๏ธ alone. ๐ญ

How do you use your #eBike with #PedalAssist?
โ PAS always ON
โ PAS On for most* of the ride, like 80% or 90% of the time
โ PAS/throttle only* when needed, like in difficult situations like hills or when already tired from pedaling too hard
Me, I only use PAS when needed, or when I want to charge the battery again (with my usage I don't need to recharge after every ride). #bikes #PAS #bicycles #cycling #ActiveMobility @ebikes @bikes @mastobikes
The #battery always charges up to 80% only. Always.
I don't always use #PedalAssist. So I'd ride with zero assist, then turn it on for a while, then off again if I don't need a boost.
Battery level would go, for example, from 68% down to 50% or even 35% in a short amount of time. Then when I turn PAS off, the battery is always able to recover quickly and go back up to, say, over 60%.
Is all that normal? ๐คทโโ๏ธ

Pleased to say that I successfully pedaled that steep corner of Visayas Ave and Quezon Circle with zero #PedalAssist! โ๏ธ๐ I was slow and it was difficult, but I managed.
Intersections are still tricky though. I should keep using pedal assist there. Could be dangerous of I don't. ๐ค I didn't today, and I was slow to cross one major intersection. ๐ถ Fortunately it's early morning, not busy, and the car making a turn patiently waited for me to get across. ๐ #cycling

Here are photos of #InternalGearHub (IGH) -- there is no derailleur.
I just realized now that what I saw was the giant hub for the recumbent's electric pedal assist. That's why it was huge. My photo of the recumbent bike is too pixelated. Can't really see the details there anymore.
But the owner did say that it's #IGH with #PedalAssist.

Aaaaalmost made it. But silly me, I rode on Visayas Ave and the part going up to Quezon Circle is pretty steep (for me). I tried anyway. At the very end it got too hard for me. And I thank God for pedal assist! ๐๐ ๐ I'm pleased to report that I only needed pedal assist for less than half a minute. ๐คช #bikes #cycling
Joined some #bikers that have a rule about using 100% human power for their rides. I showed up with my #eMTB and asked if I could join them. I'd already messaged ahead saying I can only do about 90% -- because I use #PedalAssist about 10% of the time. The ride leader was reluctant but decided to let me join them anyway -- my excuse being health reasons. So grateful. ๐๐
We had a few stops, hence the 5 separate cardio reports.

I remind myself how I started barely doing 10 minutes, to doing half an hour straight, to doing an hour, and... finally getting out on our crazy city streets on my own! ๐ฑ

I forgot to record my most important cardio activity of the morning -- the 21km ride starting from and ending at city hall. ๐คฆโโ๏ธ I only have the report of my before and after -- going to and leaving from city hall. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Anyway, the 21km took me about 1 hour 20 minutes. Some parts were a little too difficult for me. ๐ฌ And I thank God for my wonderful #bike with #PedalAssist. ๐๐
Oh, and the city rewarded us with a nice breakfast. ๐๐
