  1. Alaheʻe haole == mock orange
I posted this last year but I’m repeating because this time I have a photo of what I call mock orange. I ran across this shrub in Monterrey Park last week.

  6. So, last year, I used the #FloraApp to help identify what was growing in an overgrown area. I've pulled out a lot of the invasives (especially the vines), and now the #MockOrange is flourishing, as are the wild #Hydrangea beneath it. The native bees are very happy!

  11. I thought I knew what a “mock orange” was, because when I was little, we had a bush that my mom called a mock orange. It had beautiful, fragrant blossoms, but when I looked “mock orange” up in Wikipedia (“Philadelphus”), the photos don’t look like the bush I remember. The photos show a flower with papery petals, but our bush had thick solid petals like a real orange tree’s. #mockOrange
