TW: talk about death, grief.
My Mum passed away a year ago yesterday. For some reason it felt like a hugely important milestone, to mark this day when I had lived without her for a full year. It feels like the nature of my mourning is changing and I can concentrate remembering her birthdays instead. Everyone says grief does not go away, you just learn to live with it, and that is 100% correct. I had a drink to her last night, out of her favourite glass.

So I’m housesitting and I wasn’t given clear pant-watering advice for this 30-year-old ficus. Turns out it needs water TWICE a week.
Suddenly it’s like Ficus started listening to scold splay cos it went all yellow. Or these leaves on the ground did.
So now I’m on Project: Rock the Ficus and I’m talking to it and watering it and giving it encouragement. It’s loaded with new leaves. Full of contradictions.
