    Some owls have patterned designs on the undersides of their wings, but barn owl wings are white. A previous idea was that the view of the white owl panics and paralyzes their prey.

    Negro et al. show that when the moon is up and there are no clouds, the white feathers are actually perfect camouflage: better than a darker pattern!
