A family that fled war in #Syria and settled in #Sooke seven years ago wants to build a #BowlingAlley and #restaurant in the community.
Luis Almhanna said the proposal will see 12 to 16 bowling lanes with a bar and pizza place on the ground floor and a Mediterranean-style restaurant on a second floor.
The family is expected to take their plans to Sooke council in September to rezone a single-family home property at 6727 West Coast Rd., close to the #OtterPoint Road intersection and Sooke’s core.
Almhanna said the family is holding an #InformationSession for public input and feedback on what they would like to see in the project. It takes place on Sunday, between 10 a.m. and noon at 2365 Church Rd. That’s the site of the Almhannas’ other business, Homeyland Daycare.

From my fave healing day/night in East Sooke, in late April.
Thanks to my friend, Robert, for a very peaceful full day & evening, out at a serene, magical forested private property in East Sooke. The natural energies there were magnificent.
He invited me out for my very first full moon sweat lodge healing experience. I'm very grateful for that. I went out with him early to see the process & full preparations for the evening sweat ceremonies. I learned quite a lot from observing & listening, as Robert & Merrick worked on getting everything ready before other guests arrived. The process of building the fire foundation, the laying of ancestor stones & building up the fire was all done with dedicated diligence & with clear, respectful, #spiritual intentions.
Before Merrick arrived to help out, I took Robert's suggestion to explore the beautiful nature trails around the large forested acreage & check out the creek. I walked a few different trails & absorbed much amazing nature energies. I loved seeing lots of native plants, spotting fungi, hearing ravens talk & listening to many other wild bird calls & looking for frogs at the creek.
I met some new kindred women too & am looking forward to building friendships with them. I'm grateful for my thoughtful friend, Robert, for organizing & facilitating the sweat for all of us & helping us all heal & find soulful connections, in safe community. I'm thankful that he is a kind, safe, caring, selfless, wonderful human being, whom I can trust. I do not trust most men.
