Update 2: Danke für eure Tipps! Laptop ist nun mit MX Linux bestückt. Vivaldi läuft flüssig. Zum surfen in meiner Werkstatt und in der Grillecke absolut ausreichend!

Bräuchte mal euren Rat/eure Hilfe. Einer meiner älteren Laptops (asus), so für die Werkstatt und die Grillecke, läuft mit Linux Mint eher lahmarschig. 넷북 기존 걸 밀어버리고 antiX linux 설치. 한글 입력에 좀 문제가 있었는데 다시 밀고 fcitx5 설치해서 해결.
...근데 32비트로 깔아버리니까 onlyOffice 설치가 안 된다. 64비트 전용이더라... 다시 깔까? 싶기도 한데 이걸로 그거까지 돌릴 스펙은 안 될 것 같아서 일단 패스.

Update on this:
After forgetting to get the N150 adapter for yesterday's commute, I remembered for today.
As expected, the older wireless chip meant it is supported by the 6.1 kernel, so I was able to use that adapter to download and run the necessary stuff to add support for the newer chip.
Added bonus: I can actually run my favorite browser on this distro (@zenbrowser), though I did need to install the Flatpak via the command line, export the .desktop file to a specific folder, and then edit it to get the correct icon.
The only thing not working is having iceWM's "Web Browser" shortcuts actually starting Zen, but I added a desktop shortcut and I only need to click it once, so it's even faster like that.
YouTube seems to be working, though I've yet to try 1080p content, and of course it's forced H.264, I don't think the CPU would survive otherwise.
The #distro is #antiXLinux btw.

@joel Love working on old computers and seeing what I could do with them! I tried installing Linux on all my old devices a few years ago and it was fun trying different distros. The one that worked with the oldest tech I had was :antix: #antixlinux with #XFCE.

Tengo problemas para instalar cualquier distribución de #Linux que lleve #systemd en un ordenador HP X360 convertible que ya tiene unos años.
La única distribución que funciona es #AntixLinux y #voidLinux y no están exentas de problemas, porque si reviso el htop un procesador siempre está casi al 100% de uso, y se recalienta mucho.
¿Alguna idea?

I think I've finally graduated from #linux college.
I've got an old Sony Vaio with 2gb ram and a piss-poor CPU. I tried everything on it. #openbsd, #alpineliux, #tinycore, #antixlinux.. but at the end of the day, it's just slow. So I settled on Alpine with no graphical session. I've been living in the TTY for about 2 weeks now and I gotta say.. who needs a GUI?
With #tmux as my window(pane) manager, I'm able to do everything I need it to.

"Meine" #Flüchtlinge können sich freuen, denn ich habe 5 Computer geschenkt bekommen, die ich privat wieder auf Vordermann bringen werde. Nach der Reinigung und Prüfung der Hardware werde ich mal ausprobieren, wie #PuppyLinux oder ggf. #antiXLinux läuft. Ansonsten versuche ich es mit #LinuxMint.
3 Flüchtis haben schon Interesse bekundet. 🤗 Mit den Computern können sie Schreibkram erledigen, sowie nach Jobs und Wohnungen suchen. -

AntiX Linux running well now on my HP Mini 210-1100 now with the 500GB Samsung 870 EVO SSD!
If you had to choose one to use as a personal music streamer, which would you choose? I'm leaning towards #Navidrome because there seems to be more options on Android that works with #subsonic. I think I'll try #LogitechMediaServer when I get a #raspberrypi.

New gear day! Bought two USB flash drives for backup and bootable drives and a new 2.5" Samsung 870 EVO 500GB (finally) for the HP Mini 210-1100! The current drive is failing, fsck couldn't fix it and #antixlinux failed to boot. Can't wait to install it again. And if, for whatever reason, the HP Mini doesn't fulfill my requirements, I believe the drive will also work for my 2007 Macbook Pro which could be fun! #oldtech #870Evo #ssd #hpmini210 #flashdrives #DataTraveler #sandisk #samsung

So I realised there's a lot that's incompatible with a 32-bit OS. So I dug around and found out the CPU in the HP MINI 210-1100 is actually 64-bit! So I cloned the Windows recovery and hptools partitions, reformatted (the possibly failing HDD), and reinstalled the 64-bit version of #antixlinux base version with three clean partitions—home, root and swap. Just waiting for sudo apt update and upgrade now... Then I can try installing #YunoHost or #sandstormio

Dug out my "worse piece of tech", the HP Mini 210-1100 netbook (1GB ddr3, Intel Atom, 1.66 GHz, 250GB HDD). It was a gift–I remember using it and the dreaded lag/frustration with Windows 7 Starter kinda drove me insane. Haven't used it since 2010. Until today that is! @codemonkeymike #nixOS (and future updates) will fit in 16GB? I'd imagine a few browser updates and generations and space would be gone.
I've upgraded 2 CB's myself. One I replaced the 8gb drive with a 128gb drive and it's currently got #voidlinux. The other I left a 16gb drive in and have #PeppermintOS currently, #antixlinux previously.
