  1. Since #FydeOS was a bust on the #ebox, I did try a few other distros to see what sticks.

    1) Tried #EasyOS. It was neat to play around with but not my cup of tea.

    2) Attemptedto install #Fedora #LXDE, all three attempts failed during the install process.

    3) currently running #AlpineLinux with #LXQT.  This might be the one I stick with for a while.

Anyone have any good ideas for a low spec cpu that has to much ram pc? The ebox is running an Intel Celeron 3965U with 16 gigs of ram?

  2. Dear Friends lost in #cyberspace,

    1) Metoo or is that meow2. I dunno if I am coming or going...
    2) I am posting from #TOR running on #EasyOS 7.4. #Finally!
    3) Does everything formally known as 'easy' take an hour to set up? I mean #imagine taking an hour to set up and use a #browser... Ay carumba!

In other words the LLM, tech bros, #security nerds are the asylum keepers and I need to break the straight (if you will pardon the term) jacket. Luckily I have a plan. #Persistence. Full #disclosure. #Open efforts.

    For example:
    1) The people who hide the most are either the leisured elite OR the roving, roaming, #anarchic friends of the revolting.
    2) Shine a light on the murky, swampy, golden turd and their endorsing laxatives
    3) Tax your brain, the greedy and all with stolen/inherited 'wealth'

I use TOR, #Signal and #Mastodon. As I find better. I implement. Safe in sharing the best I know how...

  3. Ah Ha! :success:

Found out how I managed to exist temporarily in the #future.
When #EasyOS 7.4 came out I downloaded BUT the developer Barry Kauler, immediately found a bug and withdrew 7.4. :tux:

7.4 all going well, will be available in a few hours AND I will be able to 'upgrade' with a non critical bug fixed. Maybe a few more. OR I could roll back and then install again.

Phew. My sanity is now returned to just #normal #crazy. Don't even have to #upgrade apparently...

  4. Dear Friends of ranting, venting and letting off steam power. Toot, Toot!

Managed to download a much used package. Will now try another. I am using #EasyOS 7.2.3 fresh install as I was forced into a corner as the update did not go as easily as I would have liked.

Just to let you know it takes a while to get used to any #LinuxAudio and I have done my fill of distro hopping and hoping to stick with just a few on USB sticks.

    Wishing you all well :agummyhug:

  5. Dear Friends of #EasyOS 7.3.2,

    - Just upgraded
    - Actung (the update button claimed I did not have enough space to upgrade - Oh dear it seems that I was using the OS and downloading extra packages - naughty, naughty lobster - yep sarcasm)
    - So... in the end I wiped all my settings and reinstalled - hardly 'easy' but I regularly did this with Puppy Linux)
    - After an hour and a quarter of farting around. I have installed a browser of my choice. Not Chromium based AND changed the horrific default desktop image and icons. Managing to get to Mastodon for a good old moan...

    bkhome.org/news/202605/easyos-

It has therefore taken me the equivalent of over an hour to boot up a supposed rolling release Operating System (OS).
    Admitedly in constant Alpha stage
Fortunately I have others that I don't much like either, such as [well enough wingeing from me]

Good thing I have done my #meditation and #enshittification expectation training...

  7. Dear Friends of 'phew that was hard',

Finally managed, hopefully, to post an #mp4 video of our pond in a tub and Buddhas in the sun.

If so, I used two OS
    Puppy Linux and #EasyOS
Had to compress the file in EasyOS but post from Puppy

Use pots a lot in the garden (pottage) and am rather potty so I persevered with this as I normally upload 'rantcasts'.

EasyOS has a rather good multimedia editor. Not as a default program but as a downloadable package.
    shotcut.org/

Download and dependencies took me a while. Then had to learn how to compress and export a file.

    Let us see if worked...
Yi Ha! as they say in Westerns. Worked.

  9. Dear GNU-Debian #penguins,
There I was trying to finish watching a
#film ('movie' for non Englanders) when the sound was gone. Nada. 'Computer says no!'. Now where could the sound have gone. Everything else was fine for sound. Tried:
    - checking all sound settings I could find. All fine.
    - Using VLC instead of video. Nope.
    - Playing other videos that were known to work. No can do.
Turning computer off and on again etc etc etc.

In the end I booted from a keydrive into
#EasyOS and continued watching from there.

That took me an hour of fiddling about.

I blame in no particular order:
    - The Pope and Dalai Lama for not being married
    - My incompetence (somewhere along the line)
    - Pirates from other dimensions
    - Some sort of unseen
    #update that went semi silent

What is a gal to do? In
#cyberspace none can hear the #screaming...

I will try one last time and then call in the experts (wait I am the only expert available)

I will be in the corner screaming if anyone needs me...

  10. Dear Friends of low tech, :anarchy:
...aka lo-tech. As we may know we should always 'be prepared'. Just like the girl guides, boy scouts or the real techies.
    :ablobcatbongokeyboard:
So for example in my go-bag:
    1. Portrait of St Ignatius
    :ablobcatangel:
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defective_by_Design
    2. Candle, notepad and pencil
    🕎🕯️📝
    3. Sleeping bag
    :firefish_sleepy:

I may include the latest version of
#EasyOS (Puppy Linux derivative) but maybe that would make me useful. Mostly I am not. Then I am ready to head for the hills. Is that a bit too much? Maybe I just need a jacket with everything? 🪶

  11. Dear Friends of the #FREE and #EASY,

It is difficult being a Pi-on-ear,
#pioneer or indeed a #blessing to the myriad #realms of #existence. My efforts of Pie:
    - supported
#Puppy #Linux on new hardware for many years (well new by Puppy standards)
    puppylinux-woof-ce.github.io/
    - installed
    #EasyOS #Linux with no #passwords, no #encryption
    www.forum.puppylinux.com/viewtopic.php?p=126378#p126378
    - As usual will now have to update my info. Searching for a long forgotten password. Pah!
    :ablobcatcoffee:
    wikka.puppylinux.com/Lobster
    - Maybe will update
    #GROWL, my contribution to 'insecurity'

  12. Dear Friends of Linux,
This morning whilst MicroSith and their death eaters were dying... I was busy.
    :ablobcatbongokeyboard:

#Installing the latest #EasyOS #Linux on my #Lenova laptop. The laptop came with Windows originally. No interest to me. I tried installing #Puppy Linux, as I am very familiar with her. Eventually however I ended up using #Manjaro until...

    My password stopped working.
    :blobangery:

Not sure why, I had the password written down but no use. It allowed me to go through a procedure of "forgotten your password". No, I have not!
    :ablobcatcoffee:
Anyways booted EasyOS, set up 'ungoogled'
#chromium #browser, whatever that is and all is well.
EasyOS is created and maintained mainly by Barry
#Kauler, who also created Puppy and so I am familiar with many of the programs. :blobcatstrong:

    Was on a
#Zoom call and heard about the #outages caused by #Crowdstrike, or whoever is taking the blame and being bought out at a reduced price by Satya Narayana Nutella (whatever that is).

Anyway I hope I am safe and wish everyone not effected all the best.
