I just got a premium new electronic Device that DIDN'T require me to create an account to use it, never mind a subscription. Feels weird!

It's a Wiim smart speaker, and it has native support for Lyrion Media Server, which is so old (but still up to date) that it is from a time when developers asked "why would you make a login?"

AntiX Linux running well now on my HP Mini 210-1100 now with the 500GB Samsung 870 EVO SSD!

If you had to choose one to use as a personal music streamer, which would you choose? I'm leaning towards #Navidrome because there seems to be more options on Android that works with #subsonic. I think I'll try #LogitechMediaServer when I get a #raspberrypi.

Delighted after a run of days sleeping all day #neuro to manage some #accordion practice. Starting to learn the #PhantomOfTheOpera melody - a very difficult #harmonic version. My accordion was doing its best impression of a big #organ! Also continuing to practice #Aladdin 's Speechless - I'm getting more fluent with it. Time to ditch my Chromecast devices. Just installed Lyrion Music Server on my Raspberry Pi home server, powered up the ESP32-A1S Audio Kit I bought recently that has squeezelite-esp32 on it, added the Squeezebox (Lyrion Music Server) integration to my Home Assistant server and bam! instantly there's an awesome track playing in the attic.

I don't know if this is still relevant for you, but: In search for something not entirely related, I stumbled upon your blog post about Squeezeboxes (I hope your Radio has arrived in the meantime). Ok while trying to report the sync oddity with the WiiMs and the Logitech Squeezebox Radio's I've got I tripped over one of the 3 radios in my office that can sync up solidly.

Double checked, it's the converted UE.

The converted UE that can't use it's wifi because it's just broken or something.

The UE Radio that has a wired connection.

Yup, indication that the wifi on the Radio's has gotten poopier of late and I just need to flip all the Radios over to wired outright (and if they need to be away from ethernet, bridge them back in with a gl.inet router or something).

I now own 4 #squeezebox radios (kitchen, living room, bathroom and a backup unit) and they still serve us well.
Long after #logitech dropped support the #opensource community keeps them alive and kicking with e.g. #airplay support.
Also check #iPeng for control from #iOS devices.

Finished typing up all 274 newspaper references I found to a German accordion player, travelling around Scotland between 1852 and 1903, giving performances, and offering local tuning and repair services for accordions and related instruments. He was still travelling in the north of Scotland just a few months before he died in 1903. Next step: analyse the data and write it up as an academic journal paper. Almost done typing 276 newspaper refs to travelling German accordion performer, tuner and repairer in mid&late 19thC Scotland. Just typed reports of performances in Orkney in 1865 including this one in Holm. "As the accordion is much used in Orkney ..." Übrigens gibt es mit den #UESmartRadio​s bzw. #SqueezeBox-Radios ein kurioses WiFi-Problem. Wenn sich in der Nähe ein Wi-Fi 6-WLAN befindet, kann dies dazu führen, dass die Verbindung der Geräte abschmiert und man sie neu starten muss - zu erkennen am roten WLAN-Symbol. Abhilfe schafft der Austausch der Stock- mit der Community-Firmware. Einfach das Plugin "Community Firmware for SqueezeBox Touch/Radio/Controller" in #Lyrion installieren und aktivieren und die Firmware wird verteilt.

Delighted to manage a little #accordion practice, playing lots of my own arrangements. Here was my quick initial warm up today, playing Sunrise Sunset from #FiddlerOnTheRoof. I first played this in the late 1980s for the #Hawick High #School #show production. I also played the accordion for school shows of Joseph and Oliver in other years. Back then I was playing on my larger red accordion bought in 1981. That's still my main box. Today I was playing my smaller blue model. #musicals #squeezebox

For anyone who's using Squeezebox. It's time to spin up your own Squeezebox server because tomorrow mysqueezebox will shut down.

Setting up your own Squeezebox server is not hard to do. Just take a humble Raspberry Pi. Install Raspberry Pi OS, (or another Linux flavor) and install Logitech Media Server on top of it. A full instruction of mine can be found here.

The really nice thing about #LogitechMediaServer / #SlimServer / #SqueezeBox is that from my control app, I can control every player in the house. Turn them on/off, add them to the sync group or remove them (so they play things standalone), adjust volume, etc. Very nice, and all this can be done from an Android app, in addition to basic music selection.

Will etwas Werbung für die Multiroommusicplattform Lyrion Music Server und deren Community machen.

Nachdem Logitech vor Jahren keine neue Hardware mehr produziert hatte, wurde nun auch die damit verknüpfte Website abgeschaltet. Den sehr aktiven freien Programmierer ist es ab gelungen das System unabhängig weiterzuführen.

Die Einrichtung bedarf etwas Aufwand, danach hat man aber ein vielseitiges System. Empfehlung!
