@abraham yeah #navidrome and the #subsonic API aren't great for that.

In theory you can use the header based authentication and hide navidrome behind your authenticating proxy (like #authelia) but then you have to make a few API endpoints can pass through the authenticating proxy untouched, so you can use API keys for your non-web based clients.

But aside from navidrome, a lot of other self-hosted classics support OIDC which is _so nice!_

Wer es nicht mitbekommen hat, #Bandcamp hat die #Subsonic API implementiert. Ihr könnt also jetzt mit etlichen verfügbaren Audioplayern, die das Subsonic Protokoll verstehen, direkt auf eure Musikbibliothek bei Bandcamp zugreifen (z.B. #Feishin, #Psysonic, #Symfonium usw.).

Noch besser und unabhängiger ist natürlich das Selberhosten der eigenen Musikbibliothek z.B. per #Navidrome

I have lots of ideas on how it should work but mostly I let @ryno find it for me and buy whatever I can on Bandcamp Fridays.

[TuneFM Radio is a great internet radio app for Android that keeps track of what songs they played and the #subsonic API lets you play your music from any compatible source (Bandcamp for now). But eventually we do this all (including recommendations from other fedizens) in an even more decentralized way, with money flowing directly to artists. #PublicPatron]

Being able to listen to all the music I bought on #Bandcamp Fridays from @mirlo instead (assuming the artists were now there too) using the #subsonic API would be very cool. I'd pay them for that (while still dreaming of even more decentralization of course).

Since I moved my primary music listening to my Navidrome server I have been getting a kick out of my old collection while I backfill everything from the past 15 years or so from Soulseek.

Remember Army of Anyone? Or that excellent Dave Navarro solo album?

I'm using the FOSS app #substreamer for Android to play all the tracks I've bought from #Bandcamp using the Open #subsonic API. It's awesome.

We should be able to do this with music from any band's website, using any app we choose. Decentralized Spotify. Musicians no longer needing to manage multiple accounts, just their own website.

But for this to work, they've gotta get paid, directly and automatically. Amounts that work for fans and artists.

@limebar Talking about #Subsonic API, did you know that Ampache (and then, https://dogmazic.net ) allows Subsonic API client access, as well as Ampache's own API access ? Most accesses to the Musique Libre non-profit's (I'm aboard) music archive became coming from API apps, over recent years…An independent volunteer developer even coded a "Power Ampache 2 Dogmazic" pre-bound to an API account, available in F-Droid and GPlay Store, just to have the @dogmazic archive app'ed and ready in phones.

Is the Open #subsonic API already doing what I was hoping to see out of #canimus / #chorus?

Czasem kupuję nośnik, czasem cyfrowo, a czasem zaciągam. Słucham przez Nextcloud Music (bardzo polecam) z serwerka na biurku obok.

#Bandcamp acaba de activar compatibilidade con #Subsonic, o que significa que, ademais de descargala e tela no teu equipo, a partir de agora podes escoitar en streaming a música que tes mercada dende aplicacións externas (que acceden aos servidores de Bandcamp). Isto facilita acceder a esa música como se de Spotify se tratara para xente que non sabemos ou queremos configurar servidores caseiros.

Very amused by #Bandcamp adding #subsonic support. I'm assuming that if you know what subsonic is you're probably already using it and Bandcamp support is just redundant. But it's been a while since I've seen new Bandcamp features so I guess signs of life are nice.

Significa que puedes apuntar tu Navidrome/Funkwhale/Gonic directamente a tus compras de Bandcamp y transmitirlas como tu Spotify personal. Sin descargar, organizar, etiquetar manualmente. La API sincroniza playlists y favoritos. Finalmente una forma legitima de poseer tu musica Y self-hostear la capa de streaming.
