  2. Excerpt from "And Then It's Exponential" by Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer

"Then the bars of that cage
    bend enough for the most
    courageous part of the self
    to slip through. I’m not
    saying it isn’t scary.
    But this is how
    one becomes two."

  3. "And in very real ways, the inability to be with difference mitigates against the ability to create social movements that have an enduring quality. We cannot build movements that are exclusively based on what we’re opposed to." --John Paul Lederach

  4. Every so often I'm asked about how I became a bike advocate. Since it arose from lessons learned from my mom, I'm sharing this blog post on Mother's Day. Mom's been gone for years and her spirit lives on. biketoworkbarb.blogspot.com/20
And this one, on things she taught me: biketoworkbarb.blogspot.com/20.

  5. "Revolution" by Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer

"there they were, singing and showing up despite,
and this was the moment that made me believe
in the path—not just the grand marches toward freedom,
but also the thin trails marked with courage and creativity,
small moments I can follow like bread crumbs
till this country again feels like home."

  6. Jewish tradition teaches: “You are not obligated to complete the task, but neither are you free to desist from it” (Pirke Avot 2:21). I'm not Jewish but this speaks to me.

  7. “Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be, & you can never be what you ought to be until I am what I ought to be…This is the inter-related structure of reality.”

    —Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

  8. "They want you to feel powerless and to surrender and to let them trample everything and you are not going to let them. You are not giving up, and neither am I. The fact that we cannot save everything does not mean we cannot save anything and everything we can save is worth saving."
    -- Rebecca Solnit

  9. William Whately, English Puritan, addresses reasons some might have not to give to the poor. Some might object, if that person had wronged them, but we are to commanded to feed our enemy (Rom 12:20), and remember God loved us while enemies (Rom 5:10). We are to imitate God in this way.

Today, do religionists teach us to remember every wrong by a migrant, so as to have less compassion on the group?

How can you feed an enemy today?
