  8. @dan_t Truth to be told, I was reluctant to upload it. Good to hear that you are ok with it.

In is applied dehaze, saturation and sharpen as filters. How would you reduce the `foggy stripes` in darktable?

  12. @mkiol No question. It's certainly always important to seek alternatives. However, is one of the examples (, , , , …), which I find also troubling because at the end of the day, it's focused on just one rendering engine. These are then monopolies, which are often not good for the user.
's is actually the only competitor currently regarding rendering engines (, ) to Google (. ).

    Thanks for the feedback.

    Methinks, it is more like a competitor to , , , , , {FLOSS & free of charge} or , {commercial} than to .

RStudio is more an IDE than a GUI. Tools like RKWard are both.

  14. @drdrowland @joel This is in part correct. One of the |s is aka . However, you can chose others, as there are many more like (rkward.kde.org/), (sourceforge.net/projects/tinn-), (rattle.togaware.com/), (blueskystatistics.com/Default.) or (bio7.org/r-debugging-gui-impro). Just search for "R IDE GUI".

My personal preference is RKWard (I am a bit biased).

  18. I have just read about : Learnable Fourier Series for Image Restoration

It is an autoencoder that combines Fourier series with neural networks to compress images without losing detail. It excels in super-resolution and image restoration tasks by learning generalizable representations, outperforming current methods.

  19. @schluff
That is indeed the case. is an excellent product that makes things easier, especially if you start with R stats. However, at conferences and other occasions (e.g., my lectures), I observe that people think R == RStudio.
In my LinkedIn post, I also mentioned the R GUI/IDE comparisons that Rob Muenchen does (r-bloggers.com/2022/01/a-compa). There are so many GUIs out there. For example, have you ever heard about (doi.org/10.18637/jss.v049.i04)? All these tools are not really promoted.

  24. Hello Fediverse,

I announced my conference (social.anoxinon.de/@RoedigerRG) a few months ago. Since this will take place soon, and I am a great FLOSS friend, I wondered how I can possibly stream presentations using FLOSS to comply with data protection. It should be associated with little effort. Does anyone have suggestions (#PeerTube, #Owncast …)?

    #IBID2023 #IBID

    BTW, we have some presentation slots available (#cancer, #bioinformatics, #aging, #neurodegenerative …)
