#Python #pip: so, we have a bunch of `--no-*` options. You can also enable them via a configuration file. Some of them need to be assigned `true` to be enabled, while others need to be assigned `false` instead 🤡.

I feel like this is worth posting because there is a lot of (warranted) doomerism surrounding the DWP and the UK benefits system, but I just got my PIP entitlement for a good amount of years. Less than what I was originally on, but not enough that I need to appeal.

Ministers set the PIP budget before the review even started - so no matter what disabled people say, the recommendations have to hit a number they already decided.
The government's own review just confirmed what disabled people have said for years: PIP is a lifeline that keeps people in work and living with dignity.

With over 100 #Labour MPs rebelling over the plans, it’s unlikely any change would take a similar approach. But the focus on #MentalHealth conditions in Sir Stephen’s report indicates that some change around mental health and #benefits can be expected."

Zero days since #pip added a random new functionality that depends on pip being entirely standalone and breaks when you unbundle the dependencies. And I'm unable to figure out why a bunch of tests are still failing.
EDIT: I'd appreciate some help with that. My WIP is at https://codeberg.org/gentoo/gentoo/pulls/1578.

In another blow, my partner's PIP appeal has been denied so he's going to have to go through Tribunal as well. Like myself, part of his complaint at appeal was that the DWP had made things up and changed his answers, one wonders if AI is involved in this somewhere.
Somehow I have to find the energy to encourage him to apply for the Tribunal, something his disability is going to make a lot harder.
We're tired of all of this. It feels like we're being punished for being disabled.

I have spent my morning printing documents off to send to the DWP. Documents I'm sure they'll ignore, like they seemingly have everything else I've provided.
At this point, thirteen months after the initial claim for PIP, I'm not exactly hopeful they're going to take me at all seriously and am focusing on doing whatever else I can to make ends meet.
