Classicamente uso o #RStudio para analisar dados de pesquisa com o #RStats. A tendência é mudar para o Positron, mas eu nunca aprendi a usar o VSCodium e seus amigos, e estou com preguiça de aprender. Pensei em voltar para o #Vim, mas as coisas legais que o RStudio faz dependem de recursos que eu achava estarem mais presentes no #Neovim. Configurar o Neovim é cansativo, estou experimentando o #HelixEditor

Pues ahora Posit ha metido IAG a RStudio, al menos en su versión de pago. Cosas muy necesarias.
Se agradece que sea con suscripción, así no tengo que molestarme en buscar la opción que lo desactiva (pero voy a mirar, por si acaso).

Heads up: the new version of @Posit RStudio software (2026.04) has a genAI assistant integrated. It's subscription based, but can be turned off in the settings.

It'll be the first time I won't mail the IT department to ask for an update. We'll have to test how easily students can activate their own subscriptions on exam PCs before we even think about updating.

If anyone can shed light on enterprise control of settings for this, much appreciated.

There is something I would like which I have not been able to find.

When I use the programming language R, I typically use the IDE RStudio. One of the things I like about RStudio is that it A: allows me to run individual lines of code, and B: it shows me the objects in the environment within another pane (see attached screenshot).

I find this extremely useful when working with code that is not mine - if I run part of the code and see the objects that are created, it saves debugging all the types (is it a list or a vector? etc)

I'd like to have a similar IDE that works with Python in the same way. Does such an IDE exist? Is it PyCharm?

In my latest blog post about zsh I erroneously stated that while VS Code supports changes to the terminal, RStudio doesn't.

That's a load of horse shit. Of course it supports it, and it takes all of 3 clicks to make zsh the default terminal, including with your Oh My Zsh setup etc.
