#Deadline #Champion #BLINK

  5. I'm using the pattern from this MDN example to provide visual feedback for HTML form validation with just CSS. This works just fine in Gecko (Firefox / Zen) and Codepen.io but does not work the same in Blink (Vivaldi / Chromium).

I have no idea what I'm doing so would love any help, here's the code snippet, which also show the pico.css include.

Edit: fixed typo and wanted to add that I'm getting very close to unleashing my total nonsense acoustic-coding Go project. I'm excited to share my fumblings and stumblings to make something just for giggles! I hope I can nerd-snipe some experts in to giving me some guidance on what I should do differently. Basically, I'll be asking for more help soon, so thanks in advance!

  10. I have been vibe coding a bit more. Its really been neat to be able to quickly polish up my buggy ideas and make them not so buggy, and quickly create things that would have taken me weeks.
I have had this idea for awhile, to pitch a class at a craft school in the woods where we learn to make neon and make webserver sculptures. The weblink community of co learners.
I want to make a sculpture that helps promote the class with this neon. I made it in gif a few years ago when listening the Cult of We audiobook. I made a website that links to a live "selfie" feed of the sculpture and you can vote on it saying "we blink" or "web link" and voting would make it change. Claude suggested a randomized, persistent cookie to make it difficult to vote twice.
Once the site is live I plan on sending it to a few culty crafty schools in the woods. I like the idea of server sculptures.

everything will have to be low ram... Maybe BYOSBC?

  11. @jon

For years now, Vivaldi has been my backup browser - the one I use when a site or service works better (or at all) with a Blink-based browser rather than Firefox.

Firefox's continuing slide into slop, surveillance, and advertising may mean Vivaldi becomes my primary - or only - browser.

But you know what would speed that up? If Vivaldi launched an experimental version of its browser using Servo as the rendering engine, rather than Blink.

Anyways... Vivaldi's great, everyone should use it over the other Blink / WebKit browsers.

  14. @canleaf @[email protected] @LilahTovMoon webkit hasn't been the Chrome engine since who knows how long ago. Probably close to 20 years now'

Went like this: ' web and file browser had a quite clean but basic HTML engine . Apple wanted an engine for their new browser and picked KHTML. Mozilla's gecko (not positive was gecko then) was a mess so wasn't used. KHTML was hurray! Became AppleWebkit. Google picked it for new Chrome. Soon forked wk to . Power of GPL.

  15. If you really think about it, 98% of browsers nowadays are actually reskinned Konquerer with enhancements, the other 2% is Firefox.

    #konqueror #web #tech #kde #khtml #webkit #blink #funfacts

  16. then implements modern features in Safari/Webkit really slowly

That's good actually, because you #webdevs keep chasing the shiny new features #Chrome / #Chromium / #Blink is pushing to the #web like fucking fireflies, to the detriment of #webcompat with small #browsers like #PaleMoon, #Basilisk, and others based on #UXP / #Goanna / #XUL (like #SeaMonkey).

As someone who used to work actively in Pale Moon's development, I am witness to a website that almost broke its #compatibility with my #browser but was stopped because the new feature it wanted to require was not yet available in an old #Safari / #WebKit version they're still supporting.

So yes, from my point of view, #Apple does more to support the #openweb than #Mozilla and #Firefox (which always follows Chrome whenever it's not controversial) does, even if it didn't intend to. And to be clear, I am not even an Apple fanboy. The only Apple device I own is this ancient 1st generation of the iPad mini. I don't like their ecosystem.

So it's not a bad take. It's the reality we independent desktop browser developers see in #webdev. ☕

  17. Access to Tesla's #Supercharger network remains gate-kept by Tesla but the standard for the Tesla-style North American Charging Standard connectors (#NACS} will no longer be controlled by Tesla.

Instead, thanks in part to help from the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation {#JOET}, it will fall under the jurisdiction of SAE International, which has promised to expedite its efforts so that NACS can become an official standard within the next six months

Meanwhile more EV charging networks are adding support for Tesla-style NACS plugs.

#Blink revealed that it integrated #NACS into its level 2 and DC fast chargers.

And #ElectrifyAmerica, the country's largest non-Tesla charging network, announced it will add NACS plugs to its charging stations.

#Tesla opened up the latest version of its charging protocols to the wider auto industry in November 2022, renaming it the North American Charging Standard as it did so.

For a few months, nothing much happened, but in late May, #Ford signed a deal to adopt NACS and obtain access to Tesla's Supercharger network. Two weeks later, #GeneralMotors followed, then #Rivian, and #Volvo joined the club.

Most recently, #Honda has announced it will switch to the Tesla Supercharger System.
