I heard that System76 are making their own desktop environment. Does anyone know an email address to contact them about its accessibility, since its so early in the project? I tried putting in a ticket but I couldn't log in, even after resetting my password.

@gxtony The #system76 line is so pricey. If money wasn't a thing, I would buy a brand new #lenovo #thinkpadx1carbon.

CW: linux laptop suspend
I have a Lemur Pro from System76. A week or so ago I finally updated to Pop 24.04, including the new COSMIC environment (which is fine. still missing some features, and i’m getting used to the differences, but overall seems smooth and stable).
Since then, my laptop doesn’t seem to suspend when closing the lid. Opening the lid, i have to unlock the screen, but the battery use is still high. And at no point does the power light do its slow blink.
I looked at
systemctl status systemd-suspend.service, and the only thing that stuck out was a failure of the bluetooth daemon to suspend. I default to bluetooth being disabled. Enabling it before closing the lid seemed to fix that. But the power light remains on and the battery continues to drain much faster than expected.
Any ideas for next steps, fediverse?

Wayland is pretty quick on @system76 's Cosmic desktop. Faster. I did lose a bunch of xdotool custom keyboard shortcuts, but wtype works fine as a substitute. If you update, screenshot and save your shortcuts first, so you can rebuild 'em.

COSMIC Desktop reaches first stable release
System76, creator of Pop!_OS and prominent Linux OEM, has just announced the release of Pop!_OS 24.04 LTS - normally not something I particularly care about, but in this case, it comes with the first stable release of COSMIC Desktop. COSMIC is a brand new desktop environment by System76, written in Rust, and after quite some time in deve

Shout-outs again to Thomas Zimmerman & @system76 support- the best customer care & richly informative incidental communication I've ever experienced from a tech manufacturer 😊 ...casually drops that the `system76-driver-nvidia` package is just a metapackage for keeping abreast of updates and that I'm actually best off sticking with only `nvidia-driver-580` cos it is the last NVIDIA driver release that my aging #Oryx 4 will support ♥️

2) I'll probably go #System76 with my next system, but I decided to check #Dell for current XPS prices to get an idea of how they're running.
Took this screenshot. XPS 16 comes with #Windows11. To upgrade to #Windows11Pro the upcharge was, wait for it, $710. WHAT?!?!?
