Beim #T470 werden diese Optionen beim Start nicht alle aufgelistet, sondern nur mit #efibootmgr . Es gibt dort Optionen wie NVMe0, ATA HDD0 und ATA HDD1. Während die ersten beiden die primäre SSD starten, spricht Boot001A ATA HDD1 die SATA SSD im WWAN Steckplatz an. Das ist aber der #Legacy #MBR Boot: das Startsystem wird direkt an den Hardwarecontroller verwiesen, der auf der SATA Platte den MBR Bootsektor findet und dann loslegt. Mit efibootmgr -n 001A kann man das für einen Reboot vorwählen.

Es ist zwar nicht möglich in #GRUB ein Bootmenu mit LMDE7 und Windows 7 einzurichten, aber mit den im #UEFI eingetragenen Bootoptionen bootet das #T470 wieder ganz von vorne, so dass auch wieder #MBR Boot möglich ist. Die Optionen kann man sich im Terminal mit sudo efibootmgr anzeigen lassen. Bei mir sind es derzeit 24; sie sind im #NVRAM hinterlegt. Zum Vergleich auf meinem billigen HP Notebook sind es nur die 5, die auch angezeigt werden, wenn man gleich beim Start in die #Bootoptionen geht.

Mit dieser Schwierigkeit hatte ich tatsächlich nicht gerechnet aber #GRUB muss ja in einem der beiden Modi starten, hier in #UEFI und dann wird das Umschalten in den #Legacy Modus als Sicherheitsrisiko betrachtet. Ich hatte gedacht, dass der MBR Start so simpel ist, das wird man schon irgendwie hinkriegen. Aber weder GRUB noch #rEFInd schaffen das, obwohl es #CSM gibt. Hier kommt dann aber auch die Lösung, total anders als gedacht: im UEFI des #T470 hat Lenovo sehr viele Bootoptionen eingetragen

Ordered a new 72Wh battery which will arrive tomorrow, going to use this computer as a #Writing #ToolJust installed a fresh install of #Fedora43 with #KDE but will whittle it a bit down so I will have a #NoFrills interface, almost thinking about just disabling #SDDM and using #CLI only..

Diese #igdlh64.inf Dateien sind klar strukturiert. Man sieht dann schon, wo das hingehört. Damit bekommt man dann einen #Grafiktreiber wie es ihn tatsächlich nie gegeben hat, aber wie er wohl mal von den Programmierern für das #Thinkpad #T470 gedacht war. Aber ohne Garantie, ich werde das nicht mehr verifizieren, wenn da noch ein vestecktes Gimmick auftaucht, muss das jeder selbst lösen können. OpenGL 4.4 funktioniert einwandfrei

Es geht um ein Lenovo ThinkPad T470, dass ich schon länger hab, bis ich merkte, dass Lenovo für das #T470 auch ein Windows 7 #Downgrade angeboten hat. Lenovos Treiber funktionieren einwandfrei. Nur der Grafiktreiber für die #KabyLake #iGPU ist eine Herausforderung. Mit einer dedizierten Grafikkarte von nVidia oder AMD wäre das natürlich ganz anders. Mit der Umleitung auf den Abschnitt [iSKLD_w7] läuft die Installation durch, der ist aber für Skylake gedacht und ist nicht identisch mit [iKBLD_w7]

Wenn das Bios das nicht verhindert, würde ich erwarten, dass es geht.
Ob beim #T470 (biosmäßige) Vorarbeiten nötig/möglich sind (Whitelist im Gerät ...) weiß ich tatsächlich nicht. Das wäre zu recherchieren imho. -

Ein frisches Windows 10 eingerichtet von nem gebrauchten #t470 … um # debian installer herunter zu laden und mit #rufus auf nen usb Stick zu packen und das ganze Drama vom #thinkpad zu verbannen. Ich muss jetzt dringend duschen… das war eine furchtbare Erfahrung. Jetzt ist Debian drauf und es fühlt sich einfach richtig an.
Mal schauen ob ich mir noch ein anderes #linux anschauen werde -

I am moving all my day job stuff from my newer 16-core laptop to my trusty old #Lenovo #Thinkpad #T470. I want to do more bleeding-edge stuff on my newer gaming laptop in #Linux but I still need a stable base to work on in my day job.
Not doing #AdventOfCode but more of a #PushYourself type of challenge this #December
Thinking about going back to my roots in #Gentoo on the gaming laptop, since that was the first daily driver Linux I had back in the early 2000s

Playing with #Hyprland on this newly installed #ArchLinux I've set up on my old #T470 and dear whatever you believe in! It's amazing!
Right now I'm just running the bare, stock config but it still looks sooooo nice and the computer seems to have gained more power for some reason =D

I've been running #Fedora on my trusty old #T470 #Thinkpad for quite some time now, but it seemed not as snappy as it used to be. So before I do a complete clean install again I wanted to test out the latest #Ubuntu release since I've heard good things about it being somewhat better with IO, latency and such things. It seems that this is true. At least it feels way more responsive than what I have seen Ubuntu do on this laptop prior.

So before I do a complete clean install again I wanted to test out the latest #Ubuntu release since I've heard good things about it being somewhat better with IO, latency and such things. It seems that this is true. At least it feels way more responsive than what I have seen Ubuntu do on this laptop prior.

@minino kauf dir vielleicht ein gebrauchtes #Thinkpad der X oder T Reihe (nicht die anderen Reihen). Wie gut Minecraft darauf laeuft weiss ich nicht, eher etwas niedrigere Einstellungen, weil Minecraft doch ein bisschen was braucht an Power.
Auf ebay kannste Thinkpads kaufen, denke #X240, #X250, #X260 oder #T440, #T450, #T460 sind gerade die Modelle, die vom Preisleistungsverhaeltnis am besten sind. Wenn du guenstig #X270 oder #T470 bekommst ist natuerlich auch gut.Vor allem sind diese Modellreihen zu empfehlen, weil sie historisch gute Qualitaet hatten (wie das jetzt bei den neueren Modellen ist wird noch drueber diskutiert, hat aber nachgelassen) aber vor allem, weil auf ebay immer groessere Mengen verkauft werden, die von Businesskunden kommen und nach wenigen Jahren ersetzt werden.
