** First-Time Git Setup for Docs **
Many documentarians preach about Docs as Code, and Git for writers. But there is not enough hands-on guide to get started. Contributor guides skip procedure on how to set up Git from scratch. I've set it up on a fresh Linux system and documented procedure step by step in one go.I can now work with multiple Git forge on the same tool without context changing.

How to make life hard for package maintainers in #Linux #distributions:
Just provide a patch instead of directly releasing a new version of foo, when it starts to misbehave with a newly released version of bar, which leads to build errors in foobar.
That's bad, as package maintainers of several distros now need to discover and apply the patch (& later revert) it.
foo in this case is #pahole: https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/dwarves/c/5acd1ae2c9ddde3cf3470047265470586a9d6744?branch=rawhide
bar was #binutils 2.40
foobar is the #kernel: https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/getfile?taskID=97533096&volume=DEFAULT&name=build.log&offset=-4000 -
So happy to announce that finally, Swayora reached a usable state.
Keep in mind, that I was working on the installer more than the sway configuration itself.
So, keep checking it out for updates 😉

Also I had gone looking for the place in the updater where you can choose mirrors and wait until the system pings them all and determines the fastest. Another cool thing I didn’t know about #Fedora is this MirrorMaster technology or whatever they call it - which automatically pings mirrors and selects the closest each time you run a dnf. Useful. Me likee. Just have to use fastestmirror=True in /etc/dnf/dnf.conf.

I was asked to share my repo for Fedora kernel with Ampere PCIE-65 patches.
So here it is:
https://src.fedoraproject.org/fork/hrw/rpms/kernel/
Branch '6.18.x' has 6.18.0 kernel taken from rawhide with Ampere patches on top.
Branch 'f43' is on 6.17.10 kernel now.
Repos will be rebased at any random time. I will try to remember to push there.

OK we have the final article for last week! 🙂 Here's the top-level summary:
> Following the successful Fedora 44 release, efforts have shifted to Fedora 45 planning. Key discussions include proposed system-wide changes, such as versioned libgit2 packages and x86-64-v3 builds. Strategically, the Council, Server, and Mindshare teams are evaluating the future of virtualization, specifically exploring integrated platforms as VMware alternatives. Additionally, teams continue routine package maintenance, infrastructure updates, and efforts to improve bug triage and dependency management processes.
