On a related note, I'm upgrading our processing & training cluster to 490 cores this weekend to keep up with the ingest rate and the increasing complexity of our reinforcement learning loop. Special thanks to #Ampere and their super-efficient #arm64 chips for making sure I can do this without turning my basement into a sauna.

How much disk space does it take to reliably track & scan all the important open-source software releases published throughout the year? About 120TB. Thanks to #FreeBSD, #ZFS, #WesternDigital, and #Ampere for being awesome. :)

I think now we know why this Altra Server won't POST.

Gonna see if a shop down the road will try to straighten the pin for us.

Now for the gripe. The reseller slapped a 128core altra max cpu in this thing as an upgrade. When I log into IPMI it can't talk to the motherboard nor initiate power on... And it says the last known configuration was a 80 core Ampere Altra. So that really makes me think this thing was not tested before shipped. And of course the reseller is ghosting us.

Qualcomm Snapdragon, Ampere and maybe others. Support of Snapdragons was said to be quite bad due to the lack of upstream "giving a damn about Linux".

I was asked to share my repo for Fedora kernel with Ampere PCIE-65 patches.

So here it is:

Branch '6.18.x' has 6.18.0 kernel taken from rawhide with Ampere patches on top.

Branch 'f43' is on 6.17.10 kernel now.

Repos will be rebased at any random time. I will try to remember to push there.

#FreeBSD how do I debug single-user mode not booting into a shell (tried init_shell=/bin/sh and csh so far)? boot -vs doesn’t show much.

Multi-user boot is fine.

My Altra box still waits for parts. But I wanted to get rid of packaging boxes so built those which I already have (and can mount).

6 cables went to motherboard:

- psu power switch
- 2x eps12v ones
- usb3 ports
- front panel (power, reset, leds)
- fans splitter

The case: Endorfy Arx 700 Air.
