  1. The Fedora Engineering Steering Committee (FESCo) is the community elected body in charge of approving what changes make it to Fedora, be they self-contained or not.

When you hear about a change proposal, these are the folks who will vote on the proposal.

  2. Honored to be re-elected to the @fedora Engineering Steering Committee for a second term!

As noted in my election interview - communityblog.fedoraproject.or - I will try to be more of a voice for caution when I feel things are being rushed through, at the same time I will try to work on reducing policy and technical barriers preventing people from effectively contributing to the project.

Contributors, thank you for your votes, and fellow #FESCo members, congratulations on your re-elections!

  3. @fale @rust @fedora @debian @fosdem yeah I think I saw you a couple of rows ahead

Wearing my #FESCo hat I'll reject any proposal to make it default now too - and I'm the one maintaining it 😅. It probably is not far off though. I'm curious how #Debian would do it if they switch first, especially if there is a hotfix you need and it involves updating dependencies. In Fedora we allow crate-only packages to bypass the stable updates policy so that's less of an issue

  4. If you want to join FESCo, nominations are open right now!

You can nominate yourself or someone else.

  5. Serving on the @fedora Engineering Steering Committee (FESCo) has been an incredible experience. I'm so thankful for everyone who supported me (and put up with me) along the way. ♥️

I'm stepping out of the way to take a break and opening the door for some new voices and perspectives!

  6. Sees that someone has put forth a request to change the default desktop in #Fedora to #kde.

Can already guess how this discussion will go — both camps digging in their heels and spending all their time arguing instead of actually working on improving Fedora. Also, I really question the decision of announcing it on April 1st (seem like a definite troll move).

Anyway, I'm *really* glad I'm not on #FESCO any longer.

  7. What is a change proposal in Fedora? Here's a snippet on how the Fedora Engineering Steering Committee views that process.

Thanks to @joojmachine who has helped to cut out brief moments from talks at Flock to make the content more accessible. :)

  8. Want to know the latest from the Fedora Engineering Steering Committee? FESCo had a Q&A session at Flock 2023 that you can check out now!

FESCo is the elected decision making body for the technical changes that go into Fedora Linux. 🔧

  9. The panel for the Fedora Engineering Steering Committee may be of special interest to those who want to learn more about technical decision making in Fedora as this elected body is the one who approves and rejects changes to Fedora.

  10. Thanks for all the support of those who supported my second term as part of the @fedora Steering Committee (FESCo). 🫂

I hope we can all make Fedora even better!

  11. Anyone know whether this @fedora #Fesco change proposal would also apply to #fedora @silverblue?

I'm still holding out for Silverblue with systemd-boot+UKI and (please?) custom signing key support. This, plus the recently unblocked systemd-homed support would pretty much sell me on it for most of my systems.
