    "A major highlight this year is the appearance of nationally recognized #knitting expert Patty Lyons, who will lead two special sessions focused on practical techniques and problem solving for knitters. Additional hands-on workshops include an introduction to weaving with the #PaumanokWeavers, where participants can create their own scarf; a flat #NeedleFelted farm landscape workshop led by Shamma Murphy; and #BasketWeaving with Barbara Blossey-Chuvalas using #NaturalMaterials such as #silk, #seagrass, and #wool. Advance registration is required for workshops.

    "In addition to demonstrations and workshops, visitors can explore a variety of family-friendly activities, including a children’s #craft area, agricultural displays, and opportunities to meet the farm’s animals. " 'The Fleece & Fiber Festival connects people directly to the traditions that shaped life on the #NorthFork,' said Executive Director Heather Johnson. 'It’s a chance to see, touch, and learn skills that were once part of everyday life here and that continue to inspire #makers today.'

    "The festival also features live music by the Old Time Jam, local food vendors, and a bake sale hosted by Hallockville Bakers."

    Not just “city folk”. I live in rural #Norfolk in the #UK and the amount of people that still cling on to this idea that we all need lawns (or worse, paving) rather than wild flowers, trees and hedgerows is quite frankly astonishing.

  16. Feeling torn this morning…one of the kids has had their name pulled out of a hat to sing at County Hall for the new councillors.

    When their school did very well in the Norfolk County Music Festival a few weeks back, which led to this invitation, the political make up of the council was somewhat different to what it is now - overwhelmingly .

    I was glad their music teacher was ambitious for the kids and got them to sing Adele’s James Bond hit, Skyfall. It now feels ironic.

  20. I read that using groups is more effective than hashtags for wider circulation in the fediverse.

    A new FediGroup is now live. It's for any toots concerning the UK's navigable waterways, whether #canals or #rivers managed by the #Canal and #River #Trust, the #Environment #Agency, the #Broads #Authority or other body.

    If anyone mentions the address:
    @ukwaterways
    in a post, it will be boosted to everyone who follows the Group.

    You can follow the group at:
    fedigroups.social/@ukwaterways

    Public posts and replies are boosted. Private messages to the Group are rejected.

  21. We have always made a #habit of #eatingout on a #Friday evening. Since our house move this has often at a #pub in the neighbouring village of #Hemsby #Norfolk

    Those in the #uk will be aware that the #coast is moving rapidly inland there and with each new #storm more #clifftop #houses are lost to the #sea

    I wonder what message the #landlord has in mind with a poster on the restaurant wall that reads:

    Memories Made On The Beach Last A Lifetime

  22. @jfparis I only submit the most outrageous to #NorfolkPolice because it's a long form and I never hear back if anything is done. Also, less than half are captured clearly by the camera, which I don't bother with for most of my rides because it's a faff and the rides are mostly cycleway anyway.
