Australia’s Second Largest River is Drying Up – Here’s Why It Matters
Dams have taken half the water from the Murrumbidgee River, Australia’s second longest, and climate change is set to make things worse. The vast Lowbidgee Floodplain, the river's largest wetland, is drying up – a serious threat to the plants, animals, and people who depend on it. Understanding what’s happening here is crucial if we’re going to find solutions.. #SaveOurRivers #Murrumbidgee #watermanagement #WaterWise #DriestcontinentonEarth -

A powerful reminder that the most effective way we as individuals can help with the rapidly mounting fresh water crisis is to eat less red meat. A single hamburger patty requires 660 gallons of water! https://youtu.be/XusyNT_k-1c?si=V6_mhqZFZQVtidaQ

I’ve begun to re-read a useful gardening book: Water-Wise Vegetables by Steve Solomon. For those of us who want to grow food and face increasingly dry conditions, this is super useful information.
I notice that a web search for water-wise vegetables turns up lots of good stuff, too.
Are you using any water-conserving strategies in your garden?
