It's been a while since I reported on our own #boat. Before coming to Cheshire I did manage to call in on the #mooring and remove the #heaters from her as, with any luck, there won't be any more #cold snaps that justify trying to stop the boat from #freezing.

She really is beginning to look as if she needs a really good #clean. We had promised ourselves she'd be lifted out last #winter = but the house move got in the way and it was never arranged.

Yes YES babes it is sunny on the river today and I have this morning successfully cruised my 60 tons of Dutch barge to the water point and back after a lot of prep, for only the second time ever. Turning a 74 foot boat in an 80-90 foot wide river is not for the faint of heart but it was was pretty smooth this time. @bee welcome! I don't use Facebook, and I'm not in any WhatsApp groups except for a vaguely related one where some marina residents chat about stuff. While there are some narrowboat hashtags here (such as #boatsthattoot) there's not much traffic. There's more in the r/Narrowboats subreddit which I can recommend. Other than that, I'm not part of any online group. HTH!

#Boaters #techies does anyone know much about Rev Counters (tachometers) driven by the alternator?

Nothing on my boat is original and some parts don't work nice together. The alternator I inherited didn't fit properly, eventually it fell off and damaged itself. I got a generic one that fits better and charges OK.

The old one didn't have an output for the tacho but someone had made it work by attaching a lead to a coil and taking it out through a vent. (cont) #BoatsThatToot
